Why would anyone like to live on the world of Fallout? Don't like having working internet and toilets?

Between those I would probably choose Deus Ex, give me my augmentations.
Yea but you can drink out of toilets for health. And you can get all the babes by picking locks or entering computer passwords.

I'd probably go with Mass Effect. Deus Ex seems cool too. Definitely NOT the Witcher universe...that stuff is just straight up depressing (although it's one of the best games ever made, I'd definitely not want to live in that world or Game of Thrones for that matter).

The Culture universe (Iain Banks). Off the top of my head I can't think of a place that competes in terms of both personal opportunites and overall pleasantness, though the Star Trek universe is relatively close. The Culture universe even provides an outlet for sociopaths and misanthropes in some of the backwater worlds or Special Circumstances.

From what I read that would also be a nice place for regular people such as me. Perhaps the Minds could have helped me achieve some of my personal dreams.

I'd say 40K mainly because of the various opportunities there, even though it's fraught with danger and for a normal civilian almost impossible to exploit. Those that are powerful however can really make themselves a neat place, as the Imperium is really lax on planetary control, as long as the tithes are paid, the Ecclesiarchy kept happy, the offering of soldiers and the taint of Chaos kept clear.

Right, I like how you listed all these like that they're trivial problems that don't affect you in any way.

1) You need to be rich or powerful
2) You need to be corrupt and always on top of the corruption such that you're always fucking and not being fucked
3) Hope an Inquisitor doesn't find a reason, genuine or not, for taking issue with your existence
4) That some powerful alien faction doesn't take an interest or issue with your existence
5) Also, your population is immune to the taint of Chaos because . . . luck?
6) You also need to hope that the Imperial bureaucracy doesn't misplace your tax ledgers or something and fuck you that way.

Like you can be bumped off in this universe because you have a slightly heretical version of the Imperial religion according to some Inquisitors.
Chances are, everybody does, because the Empire is so vast that it's literally impossible for religious syncretism to not happen, even if you're an Emperor-loving man.

The Star Trek universe for sure. Exploring the galaxy would be pretty cool plus with access to the holodecks, you could visit any universe you wanted to. Just create the program and off you go.

Discworld is for pretty much everyone. If you're into fantasy you'll probably like Pratchett. Even if you aren't you'll probably like Pratchett. He's witty and the world he created is very elaborate. Still haven't read all his books, though.

I've never known an author as consistently excellent as Pratchett. I think there are over 40 novels in discworld, and the first 6 or 7 books get better and better until he hits his stride and just keeps putting out excellent books, until his last couple when he was severely handicapped by Alzheimer's.

If people haven't read him, it might be worth starting out with the tiffany aching series, which is in the discworld universe, but aimed at a YA audience. They're some of my favorites, and he's in top form from the first book.

His books are funny, charming, a little philosophical, and he has a quirky and enchanting way of looking at the world that permeate his books. Hugely recommended.

But I personally wouldn't want to live in that universe. It's definitely not the worst, but quality of life would be better in a number of other places.

Some of those are on the flawed assumption that the Imperium of Man is as all knowing as that, because truth to be the majority of the Imperium is flawed, heretical and corrupt with them surviving the vast group of more corrupt priests and inquisitors. This is because information, communication and transport is actually both dangerous and hard to come by, so it's not strange that a region could be alone from the Imperium for vast stretches at a time, with only the yearly tithe ships acting as other-planetary transport (if anything that's extremely common, depending on the importance and location of the system).

The Alien universe. I totally want to burst open like a rotten egg sac and turn into something that feeds upon people.
