Insane Steam Sale

Steam is having an insane sale... I snagged the complete THQ pack (about a dozen games) for $50, and Trine for $4.

Tons of great stuff there.... this summer will be a good one :).

20 games for $50.00 that’s crazy…well some of those aren’t full games but who cares, that’s like 500 hours of game playing there. :P

Some very important rules:
#1: If it is a daily deal and not in a pack you desire, buy it.
#2: If it is not a daily deal and not in a pack you desire, wait for the last day of the sale. If you buy it now it will likely be half of what you paid for it as a daily deal.
#3: Read the store and forum pages for games before you buy them. Some games have issues running with certain hardware. Others are simply bad ports. Reading is how you find that out /before/ you buy and find out you're unable to play.

its not the first time they offer the THQ pack.

btw as always they also offer counter strike source on discount, i wonder who still buys this game?!
i mean really, anyone who has nostalgia about it already got it and i doubt anyone else will buy it as its not in par with any modern fps :?

Where do you base this? Its a extremely popular online FPS with a large community behind it.

there is no point of arguing about taste but from my personal experience, which also includes many FPS competitive, team based, skill based, tactical with objective or just fast action arcade and CS is not the best in any of them.
actually last time we played CS was because most of us had crappy laptops and couldnt run anything else.

edit: nostalgia wise my favorite MP game is Wolfenstein: ET

The CoD pack is tempting, but I don't think you can gift select games from a pack unless you already have said games tied to your steam account; which renders it worthless as I've already got the retail versions of WaW and 4.

Same thing with the THQ pack, with STALKER, all of the Warhammer games, and RF 1/2.

The rest of the deals kind of suck.

How disappointing.

I'm debating the Introversion pack. For $5, get DEFCON, Darwinia, Multiwinia and Uplink
I bought it as soon as I saw it. It seems like a damn good deal to me seeing as the original price is like >£20 or so.

There was a games retailer that opened up a while back that was selling most of those games for a penny for their grand opening sale. Definitely worth it for what Steam wants, still.

dang Astiaks, I wish you'd said that sooner. I'd been debating the Overlord pack but decided against it fearing it woudl be a tacky console port.

Resident Evil 5 is 12$... did they actually do an okay job with this one unlike RE4? I'm tempted if so.

Glad to see Reconite on the same wavelength though about introversion :)

RE4 is longer single player

RE5 is co-op and has pretty graphics

I like both, the PC versions have mod communities as well.

I am heavily biased, but from my point of view RE5 debased and ruined everything the franchise had meant and built up to until then. It's what happened when Shinji Mikami left Capcom after RE4 and someone else was left in charge. I'm sure the game is fun as it is a carbon copy of most of RE4 (same bosses, weapons, etc), but eh. Not sure I'd say it's worth it.

RE5 is the second best in the series IMO (behind Code Veronica), and I own and have completed RE:Director's Cut, RE2, RE3, Code Veronica, RE4 and 5.

If you've got a friend who will play through it with you, 100% get RE5 as the coop experience is one of the best out there and the game has massive replayability.

If you're just going through it solo, then I don't know as I got 100% completion on the game (every unlock) when playing it with friends, and have only played through it solo once or twice. The friendly AI is ridiculously good though, give it a sniper rifle and it'll rape everything.

Really? I always saw it as the worst (except for all the spin-offs like Gun Survivor). RE5 has terrible AI and is even more departed from the "horror" aspect than RE4 was (at least that one had regenerators).

Hopefully they slash the price of the Fallout pack sometime before the sale ends. Got a few birthdays coming up and those packs would be the perfect thing to introduce friends to the series, and also let me cheap out on the gift.

The fact that it's an action game instead of survival horror doesn't detract the gameplay itself, which is awesome. That's like hating on Fallout Tactics because it's a badass Fallout-themed strategy game instead of Fallout 3.

You can let yourself get all hung up on the survival horror thing, but that genre is dead and it isn't coming back. Also, you're high if you think the AI is terrible.

RE5 is $12 right now which is about as good a deal as you can get for the amount of coop fun you'll get out of it.
