Inside the Vault - Cory Edwards

Cory Edwards. World artist. No mention of Fallout.
What’s your job at Bethesda?
I’m a world artist working on texturing and modeling for our environments. My primary focus is on making kits for the level designers to use and abuse. I’ve spent the last two years making a large number of the dungeons kits used in Fallout 3 and the kit pieces for Megaton.

What other games have you worked on?
My first title was BloodRayne 2 and then I worked on Aeon Flux, both while at Terminal Reality. I moved on to Paradigm and worked briefly on Stuntman 2 before I discovered that racing games kill my soul.
Link: Inside the Vault - Cory Edwards

Wow, Aeon Flux. Another game that succeeded at sucking the life out of a creative franchise.

Ugh. :x

Poor taste is lethal for an artist's career.

Um, who said he wanted to work on those projects, much less that he actually liked the material or the IP it was based on?

Really, you can't say he has poor taste when all he does is work for the company.

To be fair, it was the movie that really sucked the life out of a creative franchise, and in its mediocre way the game was being true to the movie. The movie was a damn shame, but I don't really bat an eye anymore when a movie gets a terrible game adaptation.

I /facepalmed IRL when I read the first comment for this news article. People here will say something negative about ANY news from Fallout 3, even something completely unimportant as what games an artist worked on previously.

Scavenger hunt: Look through all news articles on Fallout 3 on NMA and find ONE piece of news where there are NO negative comments.

Actually, it's more the mind-numbing boredness of the developer profiles. They're uninteresting, as they avoid asking any questions that could somehow be mildly interesting and interview low-rung people that could not possibly be of much interest to anyone - 'cept the type of people that comment on the BethBlog.

Oh, they're there, or at least those with very few negative comments - like the PipBoy design doc and Email Pagliarulo being announced as design lead.

I'd say it's about as rare as previews that say something negative about Fallout 3. Isn't that poetic?

iirc, Bloodrayne 2 was a fairly enjoyable acrobat type game with bland textures. I dunno, whatever.

Plus the protagonist sounded like she was orgasming when she fed on people. I guess that was one of the game's big draws.

Now, aren't you a treat? :D

You know, it's pretty ironic too. It's very damn hard to find a suck-up Bethesda "fan" that doesn't go on straw-man every morning and agrees with everything they say just to piss true Fallout fans off...

Well, not really. They're there too.

Seriously, what's your problem dude? Is it that hard for you to see criticism on something you like or something? I mean, I guess if it's stupid criticism, you attack it (rightfully so) for being stupid, but if it's reasonable criticism, you just have to find a way to make it seem stupid anyway. Is that it? Or am I going overboard? Seriously, what's the problem with complaining about their team's experience? Because, hey! Most of them are kids with no experience on RPGs or on any decent games at all. Is it right to complain about that? Oh wait! It's right, alright. But that's not your problem, is it? Your problem is the complaining itself...

:EDIT:
Oh! And the most damn funny thing of it all is that the first comment is not even criticism, it's just a statement. You just got all butthurt for no apparent reason because it resembled criticism to you in your hurried run through to threads to find stupid (or not) criticism...

Yet interesting enough to post a news story? ;)

If only we had two news forums: one for worthwhile news, the other for the "Developer Profiles".

One would expect to find some negative comments on any busy site, regardless of bias.

Perhaps she was? ;)

As I've explained oh so many times before, this is a news aggregate site, not a blog or opinion site. We don't filter news, we post everything except stuff that really *really* offers nothing new (like Fallout 3 being featured on Gamespot's most wanted for E3 list, or that Fallout 2 dumb character Let's Play thread - those bits are not news)...

So everything that is actually "news" concerning the Fallout franchise is posted, without discriminations. Only articles or tidbits that just aren't news are not posted.

Sadly, the developer profiles do fall under news. Mind-numbingly boring news.

It'd perhaps be better if our users just ignored them. They do for the most part. But I bet some frontpage readers like 'em. Somehow.
