InXile Kickstarter Project officially named Wasteland 2

We've seen it referred to as the Wasteland Reboot, or Wasteland Project, or Wasteland 2, as people were left guessing at what InXile's Kickstarter Wasteland Project would be named. InXile CEO Brian Fargo confirmed to No Mutants Allowed that the game (if funded, naturally) will be named Wasteland 2.

A direct sequel 20 years later that is actually in the style of the original? Crazy.

Hell, it's not really news, it's not much of a surprise. But it's nice to finally have one uniform way to refer to it.

That's crazily unbelievable, rather. And it's unbelievably good news, sir! :)

Hmm. I was expecting a remake, but this is just as good.

Me too, a remake would be great for those of us who didn't play it back then. It would also be faster, since most ideas and stuff are done already; if financially sucessful, they'd move to a sequel with even more bang.

I have been away and I come back and cream my pants on all the awesome news.

They are getting my money. Maybe a significant amount. Who knows.

I know the Kickstarter Page is not up yet, but how exactly does Payment work for this? I mean is a Paypal account all that I need to pledge for the game, or do I need a credit card? Because I don't have the latter, but would want to give some amount of money. :<

Thanks, I just read about this Amazon Payment stuff, it seems like it works almost the same/similar to paypal. I don't really like to register on another site with my bank account files, but if there's really no other option then so be it. :)

Well, if you don't want to get a credit card, it doesn't matter anyway, because you need one for it. I find it a bit silly, because otherwise I can pay normally on Amazon too.

Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the credit card-only barrier either, since credit cards aren't as common everywhere as in the US, but they have no choice because of the way payment works.

Remake seemed unlikely since a key audience is the people who loved Wasteland and now have a hole burning in their pocket for more RPGs in that style. I would guess a remake could happen if this is a success.

I am using Wirecard, btw. It's a virtual credit card without any monthly costs or stuff like that. It works like a prepaid card- you send money to it and then you can use the card like a normal credit card (online). Though, per each money transfer, they are taking 1 euro.

Nice. Certainly convenient for those of us without cards. 1 euro is a lot per payment but not if you pay very infrequently, I suppose. Will definitely put that up when the Kickstarter page goes up.

Somewhere around or soon after this weekend, probably, unless there's unforeseen reasons for delay.
