FONV is superior to both Fallout 3 and 4. Much more depth and player choice, very non-linear, good writing. I say, skip 3 and go straight to Vegas.

No, it's an excellent game. I like it more than the original games in many ways. Has its share of problems of course, but it was very well executed and tickles me just right.

You should definitely get it, just make sure you get the Ultimate edition with all the DLCs, the DLCs are just as perfect as the base game! There's so many secrets, roleplaying scenarios, tons of characters to meet, lots of different factions to join, and so forth, I'm sure you'll have a great time!
FNV picks up plot arcs left off from FO1 and FO2 and does respects the canon of the first two games fairly well while actually expanding and exploring what would happen if the NCR started butting heads as an imperialist power against other regional powers, like Caesar's Legion. It's amazingly refreshing compared to just the staleness of FO3.

That's because a lot of people that worked on the original 2 games also worked on New Vegas, including the writer for Fallout 2 (Chris Avellone), the creator of the Fallout DND-style board game (J.E. Sawyer), and the creator of Fallout itself (Tim Cain). Basically the absolute dream team for making a Fallout game.
FONV really feels like "stand aside Bethesda... !"

Yes! Its amazing what they managed to pull off with New Vegas, and gives me hope that some day someone can make a really good Fallout game again. These Obsidian devs are really talentend and dedicated people in my opinion.
Really before playing the first two, I hated when people complained about RPG elements and wirting in games now, The wirting in FO3 is nothing compared to FONV they brought back so much clever lines and its a real throwback and an execellent game aswell! (Sorry for bad english)

Agree with you about the writing, the man behind it is Cris Avellone, I'm playing now a game called Planescape Torment and he is the writer as well. Its so good man, really, greade A stuff. Maybe you want to check that game as well!

Chris Avellone is basically a living seal of approval for games. You know that you're going to enjoy the game if his name's on it.
Sad he left Obsidian tho, if they do make another Fallout game I really hope he offers to work with them again.

I agree man, I'm just waiting to play Pilars of Eternity as well, have to finish Planescape Torment first. I expect nothing but a great game, and from what I've read, seems like it will be delivered big time.
