Is there a bugfix mod with no other significant changes?

Hi all, been away for a while.

I've decided to make another attempt to finish FOT. From reading the changelogs for Redux, it seems that the game would benefit HUGELY from a bugfix / balance mod - whole sections of the game are inaccessible by bugs but otherwise fully working, imbalances prevent you from using some strategies which limits your play style...

So I installed Redux and there are two things which I noticed:

1. The damage of everything is increased a lot - one or two shots to kill someone;
2. The author likes challenging games and has accordingly made a challenging mod.

But that changes the game so much! Also I don't like hard games, I wanted to try the real-time combat and ironman mode (on Normal difficulty) since I never tried either of those two before.

Is there a bugfix mod which doesn't change the game too much? I suspect I'd be fine with Redux if it weren't for the two points above, especially 1. It felt like a different game during my very brief try out. (It also felt that a small misstep would mean a loss of a party member, not sure if it's possible to play CTB without making lots of missteps)

I'm not too keen on CTB anyway, might switch later.
 
Hi there! He I still think that Redux is your best shot for what you need. I found it way easier than the normal game at normal difficulty setting and you can always set the difficulty to lower. It is easier specially because you can place your characters at a right spot and stop worrying about their security. When an enemy arrive, it get shot down quickly and you don't get messy problems like a melee character that is so strong you can shoot him three-four times and he still beat you up like he's Incredible hulk. And remember you can always be Incredible Hulk yourself using Psycho. You sure can loose a character more quickly, but it did not happend often to me, even agains robots. It does not happen often because some weapons tend to use less action points in the game and when you successfully hit someone more quickly (let's say with a pistol at close range), the enemy animation sequence start over and you don't get shot. For that reason and others, in the mod you can more easily kill someone with a knife or pistol than in the original game... And that is great because I didn't count the number of times I had to use a burst AK47 or three guys to kill a single sleeping character in the second mission (original game) because no other things was effective and I got seriously injured otherwise.
 
That's all cool and I'm going to try it, but my main problem is that it changes too much. I consider something like Killap's RP not too much, but Redux is far from that.
 
Yeah, there are A LOT of changes of course... some missions are really different than originals, like the reaver leader one I just did. Now the reavers move by themselves, but they often go to really defended areas that you need to clear before. The explosions are stronger and more deadly, I had some hard times with them. Maybe the previous version of Redux (if it is still available) + BalanceDux mod (http://www.moddb.com/mods/balancedux) could meet your needs more?
 
I agree with Blackened, i hope someone will come with a patch/restoration pack idea exactly identical to killap's one so we can play the game in the same way as Fallout 2. :)
