Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
The first season of CBS’s series “Jericho” was released in DVD a few days ago. From the official site:
Oh Man!!!! October 2nd is here... this is the greatest day... well the greatest day since you fans brought us back. The DVD is out there and you guys are leading the charge as we watch it fly off the shelves. Hopefully by the end of the day - every store will be sold out.
You can get it at Amazon, here.

Thanks Maphusio.

Well.. and we germans are ass-raped, because the serie has had a break after the 14 episode and will start in (don't know) a year or so again... and the dvd will also not be available in german language before the rest of the episodes are shown in the tv.

And I'm not sure if Pro7 (German TV channel) is really going to show season two and the rest of season one. They're to busy with showing old seasons of LOST (WOO! MYSTERY, BABY!).

It's a pity.
The German localization of Jericho was one of the few goods.
And acceptable localizations are kind of a luxury in Germany.

Well, than get one of your american friends to send it to you! 8-)

The show is pretty good. It'd be great if it wasn't for the boring first half to season 1. The second half is where they grew some balls and said enough with the invincible main characters and easy resolutions to every problem. I highly recommend the book Alas, Babylon before watching.

i wish they would make a fallout movie... or better a nice fallout tv-show.

jericho is not that bad... i enjoyed it while watching.

the question is:

Is it worth 40-50 euros to a fallout fan (this part is tricky, since u can go so many ways with the same premise :P)?

Why? (this should fix it)

If you want to check out the show to see if you like it you can watch full episodes for free on the official web site.

1) No. It isn't Fallout. FOBoS has A-Bomb theme too. Will you buy it?

2) No. It's just another island/hospital/firehouse/police/criminal/court/fashion drama just in a different milieu. If you've watched ANY high budget American series in this decade you know what Jericho is. People pondering their relationships without actually making any good use of the theme (like surviving in radioactive wastes fighting for your life with a double-barreled, instead of worrying your new GF's adopted kids well-being).

That didn't work with IPs outside the States, did that changed?

The second half focused more on the tension and beginning of war between Jericho and the town of New Burn. The relationship bullshit and weepy moments were tuned down a lot. Really, you can just skip the first 4 episodes and still make sense of the show. It ended on a high note (and really big cliffhanger). Here's hoping the new season continues this trend without falling victim to the smaller budget.

Jericho was a mediocre show which was 90% filler, 10% entertainment. Most of the episodes had the writing quality of your average World of Warcraft quest.

The cliffhanger at the end was a cheap-ass attempt to get the show renewed, and, sadly, it worked. I'd rather have "Threshold" or "Daybreak" or even "Drive" resuscitated instead of this bile.

I saw the whole series and my conclusion is that its good but way overated.

I dont know, their wasnt enough destruction around the town ..etc

I was also disappointed with the whole American Terrorist hit America..blah blah..I thought it would be various bomb exploded in different countries. Got disappointed! It was good though.Sometimes it moved too fast and other times it moved way too slow.

I live in the good old US of A and I had no idea they did that, sorry. Why would they block foreign IPs?

Here is why I support the show. Despite what others have said this is in my opinion a quality program compared to the rest of whats on American television.

Post apocalyptic, all be it the first season really is apocalyptic I think its only natural to assume and HOPE that further seasons get progressively more dark.

Those involved have mentioned they have a appreciation for Tim Cain and the Fallout series... Come on, pwnage.

I agree with you that other TV programs deserve consideration. Daybreak a great show, I hate to go gay but I've got a Man-Crush on Taye Diggs. I loved Drive because well, Nathan rocks (wow... So I've got two man crushes) *shifty eyes*.

Jericho, is a story of fans becoming FED-UP. Tired of shows they are interested in to be swept away with out so much as an oopsy-daisy. Fans became organized, vicious and determined. It was the last straw and they had an easy avenue to attack... Nuts.

If you're CBS and you are receiving thousands of pounds of nuts a day and there is no sign of stopping... You would bring back Balki from "Perfect Strangers" and give him his own reality TV show if you had to! I'm quite certain I'm going to hell for suggesting such a thing (since it will probably become a reality) but its true.

The press swarmed over what the fans were doing subsequently causing more interest in the show. Dominoes.

Boiling all this down... Crappy networks, angry fans with 5 dollars to blow... Fox is full of a bunch of ninnies that couldn't manage a lemon-aid stand let alone recognize art, talent and what the audience wants to see... I've got to go, I think the OC is on...

Hazah! Jeff Bezos and his folks in the great NW have that all set up for a nominal fee. Download episode by episode @ amazon.com

Edit: Nice thx for the credit!

Edit: this link (slow as hell for me) supposedly has Jericho on the web for Euro folk according to a fan on a myspace Jericho fan group.

The show was popular and was making good numbers in the beginning but the morons at programming put in a long mid-season hiatus and viewers forgot about it in the downtime. They didn't do enough publicity to rekindle interest in the show when it resumed broadcasting.

Also, it isn't apocalyptic in the sense of scavenging in destroyed buildings because they were not actually hit with a bomb, what they suffered was the breakdown of high tech infrastructure and near total isolation.

I agree however, if memory serves me we were talking a dozen major cities nuked. I think realistically the fallout would be enough to define the situation as an apocalypse. Then again, this has been argued here before. No one has seen that many nukes go off and could only guess at the outcome. All be it, I think a fairly bleak one.

Thanks for the link Maphusio.

No problem, I hope it works.

And tho those that said skip the first few episodes... I'm not so sure its worth it. Watching the first three again I am still attracted to the story and characters. I don't see a problem with the first episodes.
