Jericho Season 1 Released on DVD

Maphusio

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
For those NMA'ers that enjoyed the show it is now out on DVD. Be sure to pick up a copy so the big wigs at CBS continue to support the show and create future episodes.

I stopped by Target in a small town here in Wa state to find they were sold out and had not thought of making plans to bring in more copies... The fight wages on.

It is quite enjoyable! Although it some weak episodes, I believe that people who like PA settings will enjoy it!

Most of all there were tons of patriotic bullshit, especially in mid-season, which got very annoying and overall silly. I liked it though, and would love to see it continue.

Say no more... I'll pick it up tomorrow :)

I think the important thing here is how it relates to NMA. And right on Jericho's home (On CBS's site) there is an interview with the creators of Jericho. The question was posed as to what they thought of Fallout and the response was, "I think Tim Cain is a genius."

That, right there makes it worth your while!

The patriotic stuff was annoying, they didn't feature any CD manuals and I absolutely loved the barbecue hours after fallout. They were realistic like Czechoslovakian generals during Cold war - 60-70 km advance per day during nuclear war? Lyon-Dijon in ten days? 150-200 tactical nukes on the first day of war? Come on, you need only plans for the first thirty minutes of nuclear war :)

I cant tell whether the patriotic bullshit in Jericho was serious or tongue in cheek. I watched Jericho with some German friends and we were laughing our asses of during some of the patriotic scenes. The behaviour of the characters is just extremely "American" at times. For example, theres this scene where a lone guy storms out of his house with a shotgun, telling a large group of paramilitary troops that theyre on private property.

There are scenes which display some dark humor. Theres this scene where a woman is murdered, and the song in the background is something about the day being the first of the rest of ones life.

Some of those songs are way to teen for my taste but... When are you going to get away from that eh?

I still haven't decided if I should get it or not. It sounds cool, but is it really as corny as you say? That stereotypical "Get off my land your on private property" shit is old.Not all rednecks are complete idiots.I know lots of DUMB rednecks that wouldn't even bother trying to kill a group of highly trained soldiers. I wish I could go online, download every single movie clip with that line in it ,and make a fucking montage.

so you wouldnt at all be curious why some guys dressed up as soldiers (they were mercenaries) were tapping into your private property farm gas tank in front of your house? I would be, but i might not go out there with a shot gun asking questions when they all got vests and machine guns :P

And most people these days dont act American as you are using it to mean, that is why I like this show because it helps bring societies back to how they used to be and probably should be.

I watched the entire first season, I gotta admit, it had me hooked.

But I've been a little let down, while it has many good things to say about it, especially the setting, I consider it just barely above average as far as writing goes.

Watching the commentaries, it becomes more and more apparent that those on screen, are just really damn good at what they do.

Also, keep in mind that the writers of this show actually, don't have a designated place to write so they are a bit scatterbrained or displaced (maybe thats better?). Some work under their desk while they film the show as the hospital IS the offices for the show just dressed to look like a hospital.

TorontRayne, to answer your question... I really don't think that anyone could watch this and not enjoy it, especially if they are a fan of Fallout. Jericho, also paints a pretty good picture for what private security firms such as Blackwater really are. Thats something I have not seen even attempted and its a very interesting and enticing dynamic added to an all ready interesting show.

So, bottom line is, its worth your money IMO.

A cool tidbit for those watching... The morse code at the beginning of the episode is actually an easter egg. It tells you certain things about the shows plot.

Ok I'm convinced. I'll go buy it as soon as I have money to blow. Thanks.
