While en route to celebrate his mother's 90th birthday.

Just about the worst birthday present any child can give its mother.

For those whom are drawing blanks, Haider was the leader of two extreme right-wing political parties in Austria, The Freedom Party and the Alliance Of Austria's Future. He was a big thing in most Austria-related news from 1999 to around 2004.
 
I smell people smelling conspiracies. Betting that alot of people on the far right will see this as a murder and definite proof that the establishment or whatever is hunting them. Feel sorry for the mother though.

I remeber that once it was also rumored that Joerg Haider is Gay !

Pim Fortuyn was way less extremist than Joerg Haider. And things like this don't kill a right-wing movement. They invigorate it for a short period of time (although if Hadier was instrumental in keeping the right-wing together, it'll have more longterm effects).

And I don't wish death on anybody. If only because them dying makes them a martyr and a symbol, instead of someone you can argue with.

Haider actually fractured the right-wing in his country, iirc.
 
hehe austria is teh funnt. see, they never had that guilt complex we germans had from our nazi past, they just went on. as thomas bernhard said, there is no country that is as national-socialistic and catholic in europe as austria. i always wondered when they would start some neo-right wing revolution over there... there are some really wild stories there XD

with haider out of the picture they will suffer a short setback, but the right wing is strong. he was kinda charismatic, tho - so they might need a new populist.
 
He deserved it for speeding. I'm glad he didn't kill other people.

Reminds me of the NPD (German Neonazi-Party) faction in the Saxonian parliament, which deconstructed itself. One of their delegates was excluded for admitting of still being loyal to Adolf Hitler and bringing a gun to parliament, two left the party because they didn't like the parties commitment to national socialism anymore (duh), one delegate resigned after child porn was found on his computer (the NPD demands death penalty for child abuse), one killed himself in a car crash.
