Jona's Mac Mod! <- Help AGAIN!!

SaintProject

First time out of the vault
After downloading and messing around with all sorts of configurations in both the APP package, the library->support area, and combining killaps, and a disabler patch.. I SILL cant get this to work.

When I install the "patch000.dat" file from jonas archive, the program will quit after opening, and when I install the "Fallout 2" to the MacOS folder in the contents, it doesnt open at all. I've read a thread that showed me someone had a similar problem...

Anyone have any luck getting this to work? I'm really interested in it.

Also, If i simply don't install either of those two files it will start up, and have a few changes, but I am unable to save. I also can install the "Knife Deep Impact" mod, but am unable to save that as well.

I've tried using the Mac mods and unfortunately I have had only the same unsolvable problems. It's not very likely to ever get figured out or fixed either, since the Mac community here is basically just you and me.

My honest suggestion would be to do as I plan on doing, installing a windows operating system on my Mac along with Parallels or BootCamp and then downloading all the unbelievably awesome mods being made right now, Restoration Project, Mega mod, etc. Meanwhile I just stare at them, watching them slowly get better as the days go by.

Good luck at any rate!

It doesn't run because the executable bit isn't set. Here's how to fix it (it's a bit technical, hopefully it will make sense):

1. Install the Fallout2 file into the MacOS folder in the Fallout 2 program.
2. Open the Terminal (in /Applications/Utilities/).
3. In the terminal window, type "cd " - there must be a space at the end.
4. Drag the MacOS folder into the terminal window.
5. The terminal should now have a line like "cd /Applications/Fallout\ 2.app/Contents/MacOS/ . (Will vary if Fallout 2 isn't in your Applications folder.) Hit return.
6. Type "chmod +x Fallout2" and hit return.
7. Quit the terminal. Fallout 2 should be able to run now.

I wish I could play with the Restoration Project too, but it seems we're out of luck for now. I'm consoling myself by trying to write the best savegame editor ever. Don't hold your breath, though; it will probably be a few months before I have anything worth distributing.

Thanks

i've been messing around in the terminal with that file... Glad for the help. I really don't know a lot about modding or terminal work. I wish I did, or at least know where to get started... Maybe at least learn to mod some mac games.... Not many developers throw mac guys tools these days though.

Im surprised to get this many responses on here for a mac related thing.
Thanks for the help.

...

Well it runs it now... Only problem is that the abbey location doesnt load. I get to it above Gecko, and the screen just loads the last random encounter screen and then bugs out as a run around, leaving ghost frames everywhere my character or my mouse move... anyway to fix that?

Doesn't wine work on MacOS now? At least CrossOver is available for Mac.
