Josh Sawyer is helping with an Apocalypse Now game.

Not sure what to make of this considering there is not development images of in game assets. For now I would ignore it until screenshots are uploaded.

While I like the developers, it always pays to play it safe.

Isn't Spec Ops: The Line essentially Apocalypse Now in game form anyway?

Games based on films usually do badly or are not as good. Even if Josh is in on it I'd still be weary.

Yes, but their big selling point is it won't be a shooter...allegedly

Boo-urns, this is somewhat dissapointing. I wanted something actually you know historical. This would be like saying A Good the Bad and The Ugly game would be the place for a historical western themed game.

Apocalypse now is not historically accurate at all, and its not meant to be historical. It just transplanted the setting of Heart of Darkness to Vietnam. Heart of Darkness isn't even about the history. Its a story about the inhumanity of man set amongst the backdrop of african colonialism.

I don't think this is the historical game Josh has been hinting at, he's just helping with it.

I understand, I was just venting a bit. The historical type game he had in mind would have magic in it like Ars or similar. I would like a non-magical historical game that is not not based off of popular fiction. Kingdom Come Deliverance cannot drop out soon enough for me.

Reminds me I need to play Darklands I think it was called and maybe Serpent in the Staglands. This game doesn't look like it will be funded, but I did see it on the local news this morning...

They're asking for wayyyy to much money, not to mention, they didn't have their prototype ready for the launch. Also Spec Ops: The Line, despite being released in 2012, is still fresh on the mind's of a lot of gamers. Darklands is neat. I got it on steam for like $1 last time there was a sale.

Dude, $1 million is barely enough for a game like this. $1? Man I missed it.

I understand the costs, but they have to understand the damage that has been done to the Kickstarter platform and general Kickstarter fatigue. Despite its questionable nature, they probably should have went with Fig. The days of 3 million dollar Kickstarters are over. Fucking System Shock didn't even break 1.5 mil. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1598858095/system-shock

Sawyer is only in it in an advisory capacity even. It won't even be run by him...

I'm seriously skeptical about this. Especially with the expensive backer tiering.

Yes, and it was great. :)

Why is there so much animosity against Sawyer in T
RPGCodex? Some almost state it as if it is a given fact. Then again is the codex so...

They have a fanbase that is torn between various aspects of the genre whether it be story or combat fag. Some of them disliked PoE because of SJW type complaints to trash combat to generic fantasy. Sawyer and Avellone also have a different design philosophy so their fans bicker among themselves. Basically a lot of the posters are either pro Sawyer or MCA. I'm leaning toward Sawyer being my favorite due to New Vegas, but I like both of their ideas. I get the strong impression those two didn't agree on some of the finer RPG stuff...

Can't people just like both separately or, I don't know, combine philosophies to their liking and value both sides?
