Legion assassins....

First time out of the vault
Is it normal that after I started a new game I have seen these bastards every fucking day since I killed Vulpes Inculta in Nipton? I know legion sends assassins when I'm vilified by them, but now I get attacked every time I fast travel to somewhere.....
And it is getting really annoying when I'm close to some settlement. For example I traveled to Grub 'N' Gulp Rest Stop and then boom! Suddenly there was 4 legionnaires shooting at me and killed every one in there.... -.-
If someone could give me any kind of tip how to evade them or something, I would be much obliged. Because I'm getting tired of NPCs getting killed by these legion fucks... :D Sorry for shitty English. :oops:
 
Bane of my existence. They killed everyone at the Grub 'N' Gulp for me too. I don't know anyway to stop them from showing up. Better get used to killing legionaries. I would get a companion if you don't already have one, you could also try putting points into sneak see if you can sneak away from them.
 
The best response is to kill the swine, loot their corpses, sell their gear and get more ammo to take out more of them.

But yeah, they got me at the Grub N' Gulp too. Killed the two working there so I reloaded, ran in the opposite direction and fortunately the second time I was far enough away that the poor innocent shopkeepers didn't die.

I've commented on this before but the reputation system is a bit wonky with them. I'll be vilified yet go into Cottonwood Cove or Techatticup Mine and they're completely neutral to me. I'm guessing that the NCR quests for those locations reset the reputation. It shouldn't but that's the way it seems.
 
Well im level 26 with an energy weapons skill of 100 and a melee skill of 90, me and the Oh Baby! super sledge make very short work of them, often i can kill them in 1 or two shots, loot their corpses and yeah. at low levels, its best to lure them into an area flooded with creatures to distract them, for example they attacked me in the dry lake with the fire ants. While they were distracted i booked it the fuck out of there.
 
Their ambushes can be foiled by having ED-E with you, I know when a bunch of red ticks appear on my compass that is time to pull out the Sniper rifle/Battle Rifle/Laser Rifle with scope etc and I snipe them before they can even touch me with their Thermic Lances.
 
I have found they only spawn in certain spots so if you avoid those areas then you will rarely meet them. They always spawn near the Grub N' Gulp [rest in peace you poor workers...I didn't mean for you to die in the crossfire] Near old lady Gibson's shack, The legion raid camp where you do the booted side quest, and around Ivanpah Dry Lake. I am on the X box so I do not know if its different on other systems though.
 
They track me everywhere. I've been jumped at the Ant Burrow near Fiend territory. I even had the swines show up while I was dragging Ranger Morales' corpse to those two NCR troopers on the road. They never get the drop on me though. Fast moving red ticks coming my way mean fun time.
 
Ah well mine must be bugged then since they only appear when I get near those areas and not by themselves. Which is a shame since they are the only challenge I have left in the base area.
 
It's funny. They always seem to show up while I'm in the middle of fighting someone else, then just sort of sit there and watch.
Sometimes they wait until I'm done, then give me the speech about being marked for death, but usually I start shooting first.

A couple times, I think there was a bug, because I'd finish fighting something, look up, see them staring silently at me, then they'd just turn tail and pitter-patter off in that ridiculous little chicken leg parade march of theirs.

About this time I usually lob a few grenades at them, they they start fighting.

I restarted my game part way through my first character (Partially because I accidentally gave her a moustache and couldn't bare to look at her any longer.)
The second time though, I put off killing Benny so my crimes against the legion wouldn't be forgiven and I could keep harvesting all the pretty guns off the assassins' corpses.
Good way to keep the 12.7mm pistol running for a while.

I found the best way of dealing with them was to have a companion, then take some turbo and unload into two of them. That allows Veronica to stay alive long enough to deliver the knockout blow to the last one just as you're finishing up on your second.

They spawn at worst possible times in my game....
Last time I was near Lake Mead I got attacked by deathclaw and cazadores! I was running backwards and shooting them then someone shot me and I turn around to see what it was. Well surprise surprise, it was a legion assassin group :evil:
Then I somehow found myself in middle of four blind deathclaws.... :cry:
They raped me to death... Boone was with me, but poor bastard died cause of deathclaws too
 
I got jumped by them up in deathclaw territory north of the quarry, I was hunting deathclaw and just when I'm finished they jump me and kill me

Oddly enough they almost always wait for me to finish fighting whomever I'm fighting. I walked past the lead guy and his head even turned to watch me shooting at my first target.
It seems that most of the time they want to give me the speech first. But lately, since I massacred everybody at Ceaser's camp, they start shooting from a good distance away. Guess Ceaser can't mark me for death no more, huh?

I killed Caesar and thought that the attacks would stop because Caesar can't mark me for death.... But it seems that more attacks occur now than before Caesar's death. :shock:
Seems like Legate Lanius wants me dead....really really dead
 
Yeah this is why I'm trying to play "both sides" as late in the game as possible. Anybody else notice though you can still receive a bad rep even with "stealth" kills? I stealth killed almost everyone in the ncr prison and never got the "infamy gained" or "shunned/hated message box" but later when I checked my rep in the pip-boy I noticed I went from neutral to shunned anyways.

Stealth kills don't really work, to my knowledge. Even if no one sees you kill them, they will still know.

Stealth kills don't really work, to my knowledge. Even if no one sees you kill them, they will still know.

Yeah it's weird. I did just stealth kill all of the legion soldiers at the raid camp and didn't receive any kind of rep, so who knows.
