damn straight, I'm looking forward to it. Mel gibson should at least provide his likeness/voice it though.

I'm not so sure about that one... there are still a lot of people that are only going to hear "Are you a jew, sugartits?" whenever he opens his mouth, and that's probably not the best thing in the world for ticket sales.

bahahaha, did he actually say suger tits?

Well, at least his likeness. Mad max to me will always be Mel Gibson

That line alone would suffice for me to purchase a ticket.

I think that CGI movies, if done properly, are fine. Should be interesting to see how this turns out.

Movie > Anime. I don't understand why would anyone prefer the second over the first, unless all Hollywood actors had a failed plastic surgery and are too horrid to look upon.

I think the CGI decision was a budget thing. While he could make it more subdued like the first Mad Max, that wasn't the film George Miller was planning in his head, and it's not the film that many fans expect. The cost of live action filmmaking has gone up, especially for big action movies (hundreds of extras, blowing stuff up in the Australian desert). So he decided it would be better for him to make the film CGI then to not make the film at all. At least he practiced on a big-time film before doing it (he made Happy Feet).

As regard to the anime comment. I'd like to call that just poor choice of words. At least he qualifies it by saying that he needs to Westernize the anime style. I'm hoping that means something like the Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children movie style in terms of quality CGI and human appearance (sans the spiky hair, emo attitudes, big swords, and androgynous looks). I can see it working if he can breath the spirit of the original Mad Max films into it.

I am trying to think of the anime for this like-
Sin City? ... .No
300? .... No
Happy Feet? .... Fuck no.

Dammit! The CGI feel is going to fuck up the rustic, gonzo aesthetic!

Bring back the grit and testosterone.

And as for budget? Look at the first Mad Max film.

Find a desert, "Any place where people shit sand will do, I'm sure filming in Afghanistan is fucking dirt cheap nowadays". hire a bunch of guys with little pay promising them a fun ass movie and decent script, Buy a shitload of old buses and muscle cars for dirt cheap off the lot and shackpile them up a fuckload and a decent cinematographer and makeup department.

And these days decent special effects can be made by 2 guys from texas with a big garage.

What the fuck mang?

It might be a Sci-Fi channel feature, but it would atleast still be fuckin Mad Max.

I am sure they could do a decent CGI movie. I still say as long as it has a good story and good fucking dialogue, its good.

Animated movies can be good. I became a pretty big Pixar fan after seeing The Incredibles and Ratatouille. If the story is good, the animation won't bring it down.

I also don't mind that the animation will clearly differentiate this movie from the others, considering how much time has passed since Thunderdome.

It's all in the execution.

There hasn't been a very good 'serious' animated movie though. Beowulf is probably the best but it's not that great of a movie. It's not bad though.

That's a good reason to try one, in my opinion. It'll happen one of these days.

Besides, it's selling the best Pixar movies short to say they're not serious. They have better writing and better direction than most of the stuff out there. If I were certain that level of quality was being applied to Mad Max 4, I'd be pretty optimistic.

Unfortunately I can't be certain of that.
