MCA on working with InXile

*crosses fingers so hard they start to bleed*

Seriously though, Wasteland 2 has a secure budget, and a (theoretically) quality design project behind it. After the Bethesda assfuck, what does Obsidian or MCA have to lose?

JOIN FORCES FOR THE BETTERMENT OF ALL (US)

edit: did anyone else started daydreaming about a "spiritual successor" to the Fallout franchise possibly coming out of such partnership? I might be getting overexcited though.

Would be pretty fancy to have a inXile / Obsidian coop with Wasteland 2.

Yeah. But unless InXile is particularly interested in Obsidian's engine, or maybe for some outsourced work, I don't see it happening. Maybe down the line on other projects, tho.

Well, that could be a good point already. Obsidian knows their Onyx engine and the engine doesn't seem to be bad, so... Go, coop, go. :p

/Edit: Though, of course, now that there will be Linux and Mac version, it's not so sure anymore if the Onyx engine would be any good.

The engine thing is really important. The Bard's Tale return is an example of good dialog and good ideas massacred by the awful Snowblind engine, the same as FOBOS. I really hope they can find something better for Wasteland now.

If the rumors are true about Obsidian's cancelled project being important to the survival of the company, this may end up happening.

is there still no informations available about what engine they "might" use for W2? I really have not followed all the interviews.

On the one hand, this would be awesome. But on the other, if MCA committed to Wasteland 2, that would probably mean Obsidian's kickstarter project wouldn't appear until after MCA/Obsidian had finished with Brian's project. Unless somehow together inXile and Obsidian end up producing two old-school RPGs, working together on both of them... that would be awesome...

However, I would prefer MCA to do his own project - the spiritual successor to PS:T.

Anybody else waiting for something terrible to happen?

It seems like so much good news:
- Notch saying he'd fun Psychonauts 2
- DF making a new adventure game
- Wasteland 2 being made by Fargo

I tend to get nervous when so much good stuff happens... like the universe is going to balance itself back out.

Not sure... I know he said he'd front the $$ but I don't know if anything came of that.

I was just using it as a piece of good news we've had lately :). I guess I'm just overly cautious in general and get nervous when things seem to be going "too well" :).

God I hope.

So what about Josh Sawyer?

What's he up to?
Might he also a nice candidate for the W2 team?

Speaking of that, that's the last time I'll give BBC news a headups.. I sent a few emails about Kickstarter and Wasteland 2 for added exposure and donations etc.. I mentioned Double Fine as well seeing as they both raised huge amounts of money. And what does the BBC report say?

Not a word about Wasteland 2! Typical.

It's a bit more complicated than that, right now Double Fine doesn't really have the manpower to work on it since they have their hands full on their other projects (Notch offered before they announced the Kickstarter adventure), but Schafer and him already discussed it.

Additionally, Schafer wants at least the same budget as the original title, and Notch made a comment on how it was three times more than he expected (some outlets reported as $40 MILLION OMG, but they were using "journalist math", we don't know what Notch was expecting, only thing we know is that Psychonauts costed $15M), and that there would need to be additional discussions on the feasibility of it. So it's not off the tables as of now, but even if it happens it'll take quite a while.
