should download 2.44 from www.nirran.com start over,lots of bug fixes,recommend delete data folder in fo2 main folder before install >< sorry man

Hi everyone,
I´ve got a really annoying problem with holodiscs. I simply cannot read them. When I click on the hand in inventory then a sign "This does nothing" appears and nothing is downloaded into PipBoy.

This happens only with all holodiscs and maps (so I cannot find Raiders Base!), but I can learn from manuals normally. Also I cannot learn about energy weapons from the magazine from Kitty.

I think there must be some "starter" for this (some event or guest), because when I played for the first time I could read the first holodisc that I found and then not the others. So I must did something that triggered this bug.

Instead of using items that way, try putting them in your active hand and then use them (i.e. click on the item from the main screen). A lot of the items that had scripts have been redone (well, removed, actually) to prevent the "too many items bug." Can you remember what disk you got to work before? I may have forgotten to change the item.

@Nirran: Thanks for the help and keeping up with this thread. And, you've got as much work invested in this mod as me now, I think! :P

Yes I´ve already tried this progress and also I´ve tried to use them out of the inventory (on the main screen) by clicking on the bag and then on the holodisc...but without success. It´s confusing, none seems to have the same problem here.

I think it was something about NCR history from Tandi. Now I´m playing for the second time and even this one doesn´t work. So I must did something in other way than before. That´s why I suspect some quest or event.

Each individual holodisk is triggered by a different variable within the obj_dude.int script. If the disk hasn't been transferred to your PipBoy, then it is downloaded and you can see it when you open the PipBoy. If the disk has been downloaded, then you get the message that it has already been downloaded and the transfer is canceled. There isn't one incident that I can think of that would cause all holodisks to not work anymore... except maybe not having the PipBoy anymore.

Yes that could be the problem. I installed MM 2.44 and there was the "save/load bug" just in the temple of trials. So I found and downloaded this:

It is supposed to be from 2.42 but it doesn´t solved the problem for me. So I used that file from older version (I think it was 2.35) and it works. But maybe now it is causing the bug with holodiscs.

Could you please give me a link to another obj_dude.int from 2.42? (or newer?)
 
To Nirran: Hi Master, I have a question. The files of your mod Mr. Fixit Stims are updated to version of MM 2.44? I ask because I noticed after the installation :oops: that files quests.txt and maps.txt come from 2010 and the readme of MM 2.44 talks of the adding of a new location to explore. I have to reinstall everything or there are no problems? Thanks
 
@Pavel: Alright, well, I don't know how you have this problem, but I know what it is. The scripts for the items are in the latest obj_dude.int... the one from 2.44. The latest MM maps all have the items (maps, holodisks, and others) with the scripts removed. So, if you an old obj_dude, then those items won't work as there won't be any information for those items anywhere. However, I don't understand why you can't use the obj_dude from 2.44. There was some bad code in the 2.43 version (which is why people had to go back and use 2.42), but Nirran found that some test code I had written was interfering with non-XP systems and it was removed for 2.44. Very odd...


@Tiek68: Unfortunately, I can't tell you exactly what the dates of the files should be since, even if my main computer were working, I am nowhere near it now. Quests.txt hasn't been modified in a long time, so it is possible that a 2010 version is still good. And I can't tell you now if maps.txt should be a later version than 2010 either. I may have changed the maps file a long time ago, preparing for the inclusion of the new location when it was ready.

(Sorry)I was able to fly up to the disappearance of the texture.. At the new location are returned until the mouse click.
Failed to return for refueling - not in the list of locations.
 
@MIB88: You were right. The old version of the obj_dude.int was the problem. I found here another one that Niran has posted. I don´t know which version is this file from but it works! Holodiscs, maps, magazine everything. (until now:))
