New Arroyo mod thread

A while back some people were wondering on a mod that would change Arroyo after you beat the game. I was wondering if that project is still in progress or if it's dead. Does anyone know any news on this mod ?

Yep, this project is still alive, it is now completed in about 80%, and it will be finished soon ;)
 
OK, so I'm making this the official NMA New Arroyo thread.

Right now, Jargo's doing a great job pulling the scripts together, the most difficult part of making the mod I think, and I'm struggling against priorities and lack of time to put the last dialogue lines together.

Beta tests coming soon.

And to help make this come true, I'm asking for help.

We've got all the design and dialogues wrapped up, we've pooled a demo together, but it seems that if this mod is really to shine, we'll need some scripting help. Jargo will explaing what he already did, and we're going to need some help with the remaining dialogues and locations... Anyone? This would really speed things up...
 
Nice of you to show interest, but I only bring ill tidings.

We've lost contact with Jargo for more than a month now, and this is a serious setback, since only he had the script sources. All we have are the compiled scripts.

Xavierblazer has helped with some other scripts, but obviously he can't script the whole mod for us. So unless Jargo returns online or we manage to find another good scripter, we're boned.

The dialogues and mapping on the other hand are 98% completed, so it'd be an awful shame to waste it...

Aww... I was afraid that some bad news was coming. :( Well hopes Jargo comes back (soon). It would be a big loss for the fallout modding community. I Hope he didn't fry his HD.

Any word on Dude_obj and Shadowbird. They seem to have disappeared aswell.

They are probably all on a long vacation trip. Yea.... thats is.... has to be... right ?
 
It's a bit odd since after posting regularly up until the end of May, dude_obj made two posts in June (one in GD which he doesn't usually frequent), then nothing. As far as I know he made no announcement as to where he was going, but at least it doesn't seem like he got hit by a truck or something.

Also, it's sad that so many projects stall and die once it gets to the hard parts (i.e. scripting, integrating content in engine, bugfixing). Plotting, mapping and dialogue writing is fun and easy, but modders simply don't seem to account for the actual gruntwork when they make plans and announcements and go on to produce screens and stuff that's completely wasted and pointless unless it actually goes into a finished product. Unfortunate. Silencer, I blame you for all of it.
 
Hey, we do have a Beta with some 50% (the easier half; no quests as of yet) scripted, and we've got everything but the other half; it's just that our only scripter is AWOL :(
 
So it's not like Jargo took all the data with him ? That would be a good thing. Maybe someone else could help you to complete it.
 
Well, only he had the script sources, I don't know if that's a very serious setback... We do have a Beta and all the dialogues ready.

you could try asking Avega reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal nice :)

so all the scripting done by Jargo should be done over again? bummer ...
 
I have time for this mod ;) And i very interested in this.

No script sources - it no problem. I have huge expirience with decompiled scripts. (i hope, you don't forget FO1 mod and pacth? ;)

No, we have the compiled scripts, so what he made already, no one can take away.

I'm just not sure if it won't be too big of a problem for someone to continue working on the mod with no script sources for already-existing scripts.

I can e-mail you the Beta if you like, and ..uh... Do you know Polish by chance? I'll have to look at the to-do list and cook up some design docs for you...
