Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Ladies and gentleman, I did it. Freewheeling Andy is online and at your disposal (as soon as the Administrators check the file).
Andy (a one-wheeled robot) is my first attempt to produce some serious game arts.
Thanks to Wild_Qwerty and Lisac2k for theyr help and assistance.
Thanks to Joschua for making Frame Animator 2.51.
A special mention for Mr. Steve Glenville for making Anim8or, the free 3d tool I used to make and animate the damn tin can.
Screenshots coming soon (sorry folks, it's late...).
As usual feedback is welcome.
Enjoy.

Your screenshots link does seem to work so I've uploaded a few animated gifs of your robot now :)

It looks really good :)

@ Siliencer - maybe this should be in the Downloads/fallout2/modding/FRMs section rather than as a FO2 mod?

Hi there Wild_Qwerty! And Hi there to everybody. Since I kinda liked it (between a script and another) I'm already making another bot. For now I put together standing and walking frms (2 legs). This one will be able to handle energy/big guns, and will be more fit for a regular post apoc mod. I'm still working about the model details, but it can be done. Even if a real walking frm is kinda tricky...
And WOW! The tin can really looks good this way!
See you soon.

Hi Sirren,

Could you make a version of you critter where the 'walking' animations do not move forward but run appear to just run on the spot?

If so we could forward it to the FIFE team and see if they can move the sprite by the engine rather than the frames offset.

I'm figuring that if they can make this work then in the future it will make the developement of new sprites a lot easier.

Hi there. Do you mean run to say move or really mean run? No matter, I'll send you boyh .FRMs. Check your E mail in 24 hours (10.9.06).
EDIT: wrong date... Anyway, sent. See you.

Blender has been floating in my HD for the last eight monts now.
It's a cutting edge technology free tool that can compete with 4.5k dollars ones. The point is that learning its interface turned out to be harder than learning scripting and 3d basics put together. Every now and then I give it a try... And hit a wall.
It would solve a lot of problems/issues, though... Never say never.

Hi

I don't want to starting new thread, so I'll post it here

Some time ago I was working with new FRMs but unfortunately my HDD was broken and some of FRM simply lost. I'm playing Fallout 2 now, so I was thinking about possibility to create 3d models of each firearm which is existing in the game, next add it into FRMs (just correctly adjust renders for rifles, smg, etc.) and by changing scripts (I'm not a scripter, so I'm asking) give a possibilty of different appearance of the NPCs and player depending of weapon which is currently placed in hands (you know, like 3D enviroment  ), so is there such possibilty?

Here's sample of Gauss Rifle (and Combat Armor without helmet):

ps. sorry for my English

Ow, how i love screen shots! Eyecandy :-D
I like how it sounds but i wonder if it's possible to do it well and 100%.

Make visual differences in armors from MKI and MKII is also a good idea.

But mostly the hardest thing is find anyone willing to do something like that.

I agree. this robot is cool.

@ Continuum

As for the guns and armour, they could be done, but it would take a lot of time. If you have the time to spare, then keep working on them. New animations for each gun would be great.

I also like the touch of removing the helmet on the combat armour. I think this would be a great addition.

Hi Briosafreack and Alec. Thanks for your compliments, I'm honoured we drew your attention here in the modding forum.
I think I'm doing that again soon :D .
For Continuum: it could be done, not in Fo2 I think.
Weapons are not dealt with as a standalone sprite/entity, they're in the frames composing a given animation. If you want a given weapon to be shown you need to alter all the frames for a given armour and add them to the game. More weapons, more frames, you need to remake the animations for a given armour many times. In the end it probably means a few tens of thousands frames...
In more modern games like DiabloII or Baldur's Gate they used "sprite layers". It means that the different pieces which form the critter are rendered as stand alone units. They're put together on screen by the engine on the fly. That's how you can have different helms/weapons/shields combos with the same armour look. I don't know if it's really impossible in Fo2, but I'm sure it's a hell of a work. I simply don't know if it's worth it...

Crusader no remorse used layered sprites :)

Coulnt really be done in FO2 though, the engine is limited to one set of rifle sprites for example, if the gause gun looked that that so would a shot gun look like gause rifle
