New idea for the next fallout.

Klamath at its finest

First time out of the vault
Im a huge fan of fallout, and i have a couple ideas that i think would be cool in the fallout series.

1.) Remake fallout 1 and 2 with the engine from fallout 3 and new vegas.

2.)Make a fallout that takes place a couple years before the great war.

3.)Make a fallout that takes place in the earliest time just after the great war.

Please comment and state your opinion on whether or not you think these ideas would work. Thanks

1: No. First of all, the engine is horrible. Second, the whole "remake old game in new engine" shit completely fucks over dedicated fans and merely panders to the younger, new fans that are just following the trend. Look at Twin Snakes for a good example of this.

2: Either you'd be in the army, meaning it'd be a 50s retro call of duty, or you'd not be in the army, meaning it'd be The Sims only everyone dies at the end

3: What would be the point? You'd be sitting in a shelter for 20 years then walking around a desert waiting for towns to be invented

From the Vault wiki:

A pre-Fallout "Resource Wars" game set in collapsing Europe (during the U.K.'s invasions of the Middle East) is one of the games that J.E. Sawyer would like to make if he could do any game, regardless of money and developing time.

NEW IDEA - A Remake.

Better Idea! A REMAKE: SPECIAL EDITION! Can't you see it now?

"Hot off the heels of the "Lord of the Rings: Special Edition" as re-envisioned by George Lucas, where the great visionary director inserted a more "mainstream" quality character called Jar-Jaromir into Middle-Earth, comes "Fallout: Special Edition".

Features:
* Exciting new 3D action! Experience the original isometric view through the immersion of 3D through actual 1950s technology of the FUTURE!
* Hot new level designs from Todd and Emil! Inspired by Robot Aliens similar to those in Michael Bay's smash hit "Transformers" franchise! More Super Mutants! More Centaurs! More Raiders! More Explosions! More AWESOME as Liberty Prime makes a guest appearance!
* Remastered Character designs and new voice actors! Featuring "Jersey Shore" superstar, Snooki, as Tandi!
* Relive the feeling of 1950s America as you listen to all new music from Justin Bieber and Ke$ha!
* Updated ending to reflect the more heroic nature of the Vault Dweller! The Overseer shoots first!"

...

I think I just barfed a little in my mouth.

But Guns are too violent for today's audience so Radios have been photoshopped over their guns

Funny that Spielberg admitted that it was a horrible idea, but George Lucas is so oblivious.

A Fallout before the Great War wouldn't contain a lot of 'Fallout', now wouldn't it?

Would have to be a spinoff in my opinion. Different name and all.

1) No. As much as I like the new engine, remaking FO1 and 2 into FPS variants will be an insult to the franchise, and seriously screw things up.
And besides, remakes are lame, terrible ideas come up by people with no creativity, who are only after a paycheck. The only time a remake is acceptable is if the original was terrible.
So in this case...not acceptable.

2) That wouldn't be Fallout...the reason why it is called fallout is because it takes place after a nuclear holocaust. And prequels also suck.

3) Again, that would be a prequel to FO1 and 2. And you wouldn't get to do much. Except rip off stalker I guess.

1. NO!!!!!
If they did do a remake of F1 and 2, they would be terrible UNLESS they track down all the developers and writers, make the games as unglitchey as possible and add in more Side quests. Even then, it would be only playable.

2.Nah! That would just be a complete mess and be a CoD clone. It would only work if they had it from the PoV of a civilian trying to survive.

3.Again, no. Unless if it's from the view point of Harold or Richard Grey. It would either have nothing to do with the other Fallout storys and go it's own path by making wars and nearly everyone dying or it would try to link in with the other fallouts and put itself in a big mess that it can't out of and prob be full of contridictions leading the whole Fallout Universe to explode into billions of specks of dust.

Well, you're forgetting all the people who wasn't in a vault. The first ghouls were outside the vaults when the war started.
Also, there are lots of places where the game could happen, so there will no need to make it a prequel. There is no need to give the game an ending which leads to the Fallout 1 plot.
Anyway, I don't think how a game in such scenary could be interesting, I think the only thing one could do in that world is try to survive. Maybe, if it's at least a few months after the war, you can try to organize people and settle a city, but I don't think there is a way to make it a real RPG like Fallout.

The idea of a Pre-War spin off is not bad, remeber that the pre War world in Fallout wasn't exactly nice, in the final years there were Riots everywhere, goverments had been dissolved and the streets in some cities were pure Anarchy, soldiers in combat and Power Armor runnign around suppressing civilian uprisings etc, If set during those yeaars it could be a very good spin off IMO.

1. I like and hate the idea. I'd like the original games put out again with better graphics and animation. I don't care if it's just for the money, I just would like to see it again in the modern ages. No, I don't mean they should change the game or really any content. Or maybe they can release it for a console?

Or maybe it can just have you as a small group/Naval force of the Enclave returning from some kind of mission abroad. Communications were knocked out, which left you all in the dark until you returned. All battle scarred and full of PTSD! Which leaves your admiral not wanting to follow the Enclave any longer. Albeit the Enclave is pretty much gone anyway. Either way. You're a new recruit, yada yada, not yet allowed to wear power armor or get any good weapons... Ship is attacked/You need to go get something... etc etc. It's just a random idea that popped up. .-.

1.) NO! The horror of the Gamebryo engine should never have to be seen again in any game made by Bethesda. If a remake is considered, then NOTHING must change from the original game except the fact that it can be played on a console and that it uses FPS-styled gameplay with real time combat. But NOTHING should occur that Bethesda can fuck up with royal ease...
N-O-T-H-I-N-G.

2.) This idea would seem pointless, considering that Fallout is more focused and based on post-war apocalyptic events and not so much pre-war events.

3.) Just as pointless as what's stated above.
