New Vegas secrets

TheHouseAlwaysWins

Look, Ma! Two Heads!
Are there any good out of the way secrets you can find in Fallout New Vegas? I know there is a fat man on the south border of the map by the Colorado river through a series of caves or something.

There is something rotten about Goodsprings water tower standing on the graveyard.

Sorry, I couldn't resist.

After several replays, I actually found something new (amazingly)
Timmy down the well! Speak to Rex after curing him, while playing with wacky wasteland

You can convince the ghoul at the Followers Fort to become a prostitute if you give her booze.

Bear in mind that I've got a significantly modded game, but mostly weapons, armor, and companions. Only cell I've modded heavily is the Lucky 38 Presidential Suite.

After several replays, this is the first time I ever found the Survivalist's Rifle. I've never used it as my character is specced in energy, unarmed, and melee weapons so I gave it to one of my companions along with a fat stack of 12.7 mm ammo.

There's lots of weapons I've never used in the game. At the end of the day, it always comes back to some type of sniper rifle. You already get a free varmint rifle and some 5.56 mm ammo from Sunny Smiles at the beginning of the game anyway, and you can mod that with a scope or get its unique variant, the Ratslayer while en route to Novac.

If I'm playing a gun-based build, then I might go with an anti-materiel rifle or any .308 sniper rifle. I've never used any of the lever-action guns, though. I've used the K9000, FIDO, automatic rifle, and SMMG just to see what they all did.

If I'm using an energy weapons build, it comes back to the Holorifle because it uses ammo more efficiently than the Gauss rifles and you just get it at the beginning of Dead Money. You only have to hunt for the mods, two of which are in areas you have to go to complete the DLC. I can always counter the spread with a cocktail of Steady and Fixer, or take a perk I modded in that grants addiction immunity. And once I've gotten near the Dead Horses camp in Honest Hearts, any laser or plasma pistols I used before are immediately retired upon finding the Compliance Regulator. I've never used a Tesla cannon or Gatling laser, and I've only used a plasma caster ONCE just to see what it did.

Explosives? I don't really bother with anything beyond grenades. Even then, the grenades are for distracting enemies or something for my companions to throw around.

If You activate janitor at sunset headquarters, he will gather bottlecaps and dump them in a bin. Not sure if IT simply spawns though.

Primm Has got binoculars, alcohol and such on a second floor outside. You need to climb the rollercoaster, right above the entrance.

Deathclaw promotory is on the other side of Colorado with full set of non faction t51b.

You can avoid boomers mortals by following train tracks instead, way more careful.

@WeissYohji please spread out the text, it is almost unreadable.

You can ask Victor to join the fight against the Powder Gangers but he doesn't do anything. You can bug him about it afterward for some neat dialogue.

There's a cave near Helios with Nightkin in it. I think you need to complete Crazy, Crazy, Crazy and get to a certain point in the main quest or something, but they give predictions. I still haven't been able to find a post of their dialogue file and some jackass deleted all the entries I posted on the wiki for no reason. Since then I haven't been able to trigger it...

I tried that but it was a no go for me. Maybe I didn't understand the idea. Got any tips?

@NMLevesque one Word - Turbo. Or implant GRX.

There is radscoorpion Queen in south, close to nipton. Unmarked location.

Chinese stealth suits are located in Hoover dam.

In order to get cazador eggs for bleed me dry, You have to go close to Jacobstown.

@NMLevesque That cave is also where you get the Paladin Toaster, IIRC. And you don't even really have to do Crazy, Crazy, Crazy to access it. I've stumbled upon it once when traveling from Goodsprings right to the abandoned BoS bunker to start Dead Money. I had ground to get my character at the time up to level 5 before starting the add-on. I like to get the Holorifle as early as possible; no other long arms will do for me as far as energy weapons go. I've done one run with a Gauss rifle but don't like how it eats up MFC ammo. Holo's more efficient, using only one MF cell per shot instead of four (YCS/186) or five (regular Gauss rifles). Its nightvision scope helps, too. Even a fully-modded Holo will suffer spread, but that's easily countered with Steady/Fixer combos. You'll never need anything else again outside of casinos and the Fort provided you have a high enough Sneak skill or kept the missing laser pistol from the quest Pistol Packing (i.e., you didn't bring it back to Hidden Valley).

Not an in-game secret, but I have NEVER played a game of Caravan. Never. I don't bother with it. I don't even collect playing cards in the game. I only bother with two mini-games: Blackjack and slots. I always give my Courier max Luck so winning enough chips for the complimentary voucher in DM is easy. And I prefer blackjack over slots because the former requires at least a modicum of strategy while slot machines are engineered addiction.

I'm speechless O.o

I had NEVER seen this dungeon before, I just checked with my own eyes. There really is a queen there, I only knew the one in the fire department.

too bad that don´t have a special loot there. it would be cool to find a Fallout 3 armor there, like that Tribal Power Armor or raider iconoclast armor.

Anyway, my turn:

1) The cigarettes that Benny smokes in the opening video? You can pick them up close to your grave and use them as evidence when you talk to Swank

2) When work for Legion, there is a moment when Caesar go to bed to sleep. If you wake him, he gives you an ultimatum to not do this any more. Repeat and he releases the praetorians over you, thus causing you to fail on their quests.

3) You can find Sinclair body in the Sierra Madre vault.

I just found out that you can give rocket souvenirs to the kid Boomers.

Also I remembered that if you set your player speed really high you can catch NPCs jumping onto crosses. They're coded as chairs or something IIRC.

I guess the location of the Avenger minigun in the northeast corner of the map isn't much of a secret, but maybe that bears mentioning.

That wasn't really the point of the train track route though...you can just use those and go straight over to Nellis.

Indeed, but that doesn't mean the nightkin will be there, or that they'll be barking out predictions.

I have NEVER played a game of Caravan

It's so easy to win though....just don't play against Johnson Nash until you've got a serious deck. No one else is much trouble. So it's just free money. If you play against a vendor you can buy as much as possible to give them all your caps before playing them, which increases the amount they'll bet.

@NMLevesque I went into the cave before doing Crazy, Crazy, Crazy, and the Nightkin were definitely there.

I didn't use the Paladin Toaster at all, though, because almost immediately after I left the cave, I started Dead Money. After finishing that add-on, it was straight off to do Honest Hearts and ultimately trade in my knife spear for She's Embrace while in Zion. Then that becomes my go-to unarmed weapon until I kill Rawr during Lonesome Road.

Speaking of Lonesome Road, there are some times where, if you look through a sniper scope, you'll see Ulysses standing in ruined buildings. He's actually watching YOU the whole time.

Remember a nice one, actually, a bug.

If you uses the ranger takedown or the boxing gloves in the people on a cross, you knock them and they fall without die. You can even speak to them.

So, there is, a way to save them :)

Wait what? I never noticed this. Shit, now I'm curious. I knew he was watching me but I didn't realize his model was out and about.

You can see him in a bulding before you reach the "crow's nest". He acts like G-Man from Half Life 1.

This Ulysses is a diferent actor in geck, and a imortal one. You can't shot him.

I hadn't noticed until after watching Oxhorn's YouTube videos on Lonesome Road. Only after that have I looked through a sniper scope and found Ulysses watching my Courier schlep through the Divide. And no, you can't shoot him. Then again, I also have max Speech by this point so I can just talk him down at the end.

found this in Nexus forum

I'll go with the hipster answer and say The Prospector's Den. The Chest below the Storage Area sign does not in fact respawn, and a Merchant sets up shop there a few days after you clear it of the Vipers.

And this is real

Man, this is REALLY cool. Fuck man, imagine Obsidian with time enough to work in NV, what they would not have done with this game
