NFL 2013

Welcome to the NFL thread, 2013 edition.

This sport has the shortest playing season of any major sport, and yet it never goes away. In fact in some ways it's even more interesting in the off time, with trades and free agents flying around left and right.

Welker to the Broncos...that's an interesting one. The Harvin trade is noteworthy. The NFC West seems to be improving all around. Except for Arizona, naturally.

Yea there has been a lot of excitement this offseason.

Reggie Bush to the Lions should help spice them up.

I'm a decent Chiefs fan, and I've been excited by all the changes we've made. Even if they haven't been for all star players, our whole passing game will be shaken up. Alex Smith, Donnie Avery and Anthony Fasano should make it interesting.

Harvin came at a steep cost but that'll be a fun defense to watch.

Adding Avril for so very little is just hilarious.

RevisRevisRevisRevisRevis.

Also holy fuck the Seahawks are going to destroy people next year.

The Elvis Dumervil debacle is amusing. He'd be a good addition for Green Bay, but they can't pay him.

Don't look now, but Johnny Jolly is back on the Packers roster. I wonder what kind of shape he's in after being in prison for a couple of years.

First- and third-round pick, no guaranteed money? Oh shit yes.

I have been saying that the bucs are close to reaching success for a little while now, and i think adding revis might be that last push.

Wait....according to many of your user ID's, many of you are from Europe....you mean to tell me that you still enjoy american football?

New Bucs over the past two years:

Vincent Jackson
Carl Nicks
Eric Wright
Mark Barron
Doug Martin
LaVonte David
Dashon Goldson
Darrelle Revis

Excuses left for failure = 0. Well, there's still injury I guess.

Don't forget the draft this week! As if you could.

Yeah, their free agency signing spree of 2012 landed them some big names, they drafted pretty good too. I still think Trent Richardson is the best RB to come out of that draft, but Doug Martin is a beast. Mark Barron really changed the D. Like you said, no excuses at this point. I think Josh Freeman is a pretty solid QB.

But hell yeah man, I'm an eagles fan...I'm kinda scared of the draft this year....reaaalllly don't want them to pick a QB in the first round. No qb is worth it this year

I can see where you're coming from. The whole Oregon/Chip system seems like a huge gamble to me in the NFL. If it doesn't work it'll be Steve Spurrier 2.0, and it'll be at least a couple of years before you can dig yourselves out. No.4 is way too rich for Geno Smith, IMO.

Exactly...I personally wanted the Gus Bradley from Seattle, those schemes that work in college aren't guaranteed in the NFL, but we'll see i guess. Yeah everyone is saying Geno Smith will be the first to go, I would go as far to say that the 1st round is too rich for him. What's your favorite team?

Hey! As a cardinals fan I am offended. We just got Carson Palmer and Rashard Mendenhall.

Although dropping Adrian Wilson is gonna hurt, a lot. Management always seems to shoot themselves in the foot when it comes to our secondary.

I love the Seahawks team right now and with all the young guys they're gonna be beast for a long time.

I also love that my Ravens picked up Dumervil and the few other d linemen the d is going to be a lot better than people think.

The Steelers are now on a decline for a few years with no young up and comers.

I am on the fence with the pats as Brady's decline will be soon and Gronk can't get on the field and no welker.

Go Pack Go!

As usual, no one really has any idea what Ted Thompson is going to do. If I had to bet, I'd say he'll trade down out of the first with one of the teams that wants to jump up and grab a QB. Otherwise it'll be BPA.

EDIT: I like the Datone Jones pick.

EDIT 2: Draft time is a great time to be a Packer fan. Charles Johnson in the seventh...that's great scouting. Ted is the draft master.

I was content with the eagles pick at #4. I like Lane Johnson, taking a TE in the second was ehh, and I didn't care for a defensive tackle in the third. I'm fine with Vick or Foles starting, so for them to take Barkley...not my favorite choice.

I think, in your case, it could have been a lot worse. Those picks are at least sensible, and seem to indicate that Chip's plan is to adapt to the NFL, rather than trying and probably failing to revolutionize the sport. The Barkley pick is decent value, but it does put Foles in an awkward situation. I thought Foles looked pretty good last year.
