NMA Military Folks

I remember I opened an earlier thread on me being shipped off. Now that I have finally cleared all the paper works, took the various tests, written as well as physical...

I have been handed my contract, took the oath of enlistment and I will be shipping off June 20th, 2006 AD to Ft. Benning, Georgia. I got a nice contract and well I am in the Infantry so I suppose that makes me canon fodder in some ways.

Just letting you folks know it is finalized and that i am wishing all at NMA well.

Take care and may Server never crash NMA.

Good luck and while your there try to taste the local Wines, from what I understand they are rather good.

I can't really give you any sort of advice but I wish you the best. Just think of it as valuable wilderness training for the future Fallout apocalypse. Sand, angry locals, traps everywhere....

Good luck, stay alive, and take something out of it all. Stay in touch, you will be missed.

Goodluck, not so much flying muzzles and STAY THE HELL IN ONE PART! HORRIDO!

Just come back home again fine O.K.? ;)

You will be back my friend. Basic doesn't take that long, and you can still use the internet when you hit Iraq. Ft. Benning is the hardest (IMO) Basic training to go through,so keep your wits about you, and remember that it is all a mind game. If you end up on Sand Hill in Benning look for a Drill Sgt. Lewis,or Salmon. They are mean as fuck, but actually nice guys. The hardest part will be your Field Training Exercise (FTX). We went on a 15 mile roadmarch up a serious of hills; the worst (called The Stairway to Heaven ) is a fucking monster. You will be alright though. Take care.

Thanks, now I know all my good humor and wits will have to keep me from cracking like a soft shell egg under pressure.

Hooah!

Yeah, you've got that right... in order to keep your wits about you you musn't take life too seriously...
I don't know you that well but I do know you are a pretty good role player and seem to be a decent chap so make sure you come back in one piece because Killrick Salvage needs you, ok? :)
Cheers!

11B, eh? Bawhaha!

All I am going to say is if I hear you pull a stress card I will track you down and punch you in your throat.

Mohrg

Hail teh Pirate Clown !!!

Good luke Carib. Keep away from bullets, bombs, mortar shells, mines, scorpions, snakes, swords, friendly fire and most of all never drop the soap.

So we'll be neighbors for a couple of weeks, although you'll be on a different part of post...not to mention getting a rather -- *ahem* -- different type of treatment that I am. ;)

Nope, not at all. If you're looking at the MOS worst-hit in Iraq, it's 88M, which is "Truck Driver" in layman's terms. Besides, the '80s are over and with them the day of functionally illiterate grunts.

Besides, the Queen of Battle is what it's all about. There is one job in the Army, and 211 ways to support me. No matter how high-tech things get, we will always need boots on the ground -- something Rummy failed to factor into his vision of a transformed Army -- guys out there with rifles occupying ground.

One of the perks of being Infantry is that we make rank pretty quickly. If you can't make Sergeant in 3 years you either don't want to, or you are an incompetent dumb-ass. (Well, there are some other options, like getting injured and stuck on profile which will keep you from getting promoted, but let's not consider that right now...)

Good luck to you. Just do what your NCOs tell you and you'll do just fine.

Cheers,

OTB

All the best Carib, all that I was going to say has been said.

But anyways have fun, and don't get shot/tread on landmines/shoot yourself, you know, they usual stuff...

See you around here soon.

Thanks OntheBounce. i will be sure to do my best and take those promos when they come. Besides, I plan to make the most of the service. when you don't have much choice but to suck it up and do your best you'll be surprised on what can be accomplished.
