Nothing on BoS?

White Knight

Water Chip? Been There, Done That
I've noticed how there is next to no news on the brotherhood. I find this weird considering they have been a major faction in all games but FO2 and NV. I'm not asking for a whole report on them, but some screenshots of them would be nice. The vault dosen't have any so

Well, we know they are in the game, they have their bunker, they are in combat with the NCR and they have a scribe with name Victory, which can be a player companion. Also they run around in T-51b power armor and use Fallout 3 laser rifles.

Beside the one with Victoria, only these two:

I think they are in NMA's gallery as well.

Great. I hate those rifles. Though it atleast looks like they mounted some optics or something on it.

Seems even in New Vegas we'll have to resort to replacer mods.

I wonder if the rifles are some sort of weird retcon, or whether the Capital Wasteland division or Outcasts actually started acting like the BoS and found a way to deliver some technology back to headquarters. Though one would think a hippie like Lyons wouldn't be too glad to hear about a war over technology.

As much as i have misgivings about the direction Bethesda took with both east BoS factions i am interested in how that all plays back to proper BoS. If there's a war on, i can see the hippie division breaking off and the Outcasts becoming the official faction. Three or four years should be long enough for information to filter though, if Bethesda lets them i suppose.

Wait no, no optics. Just a tube. FUCK. HOW IS THIS SUPPOSED TO WORK GUN DESIGNERS? YOU NEED SOMETHING TO LINE THE GUN UP ON. awrghausifb;kjvnfhausovuiashfwiuehfiwyrfgbvyapwe.

And laser rifles can be aimed really really good. Use the technique of a single lens reflex camera and you have the perfect aim.

More points of failure is a bad thing. All you need is some slightly modifiable irons that will allow you to zero for each individual shooter. Hell, they don't even need to be that dynamic since the laser won't drop/fall like a bullet will.

Maybe so, but reflex optics in a laser rifle wouldn't add many moveable components or anything.
But then again, laser rifles never get depicted realistically, anyway.
If you are interested, Project Rho has a very interesting section about realistic laser guns:

Realistic ones just look stupid :D

I actually liked the design of the Fallout 3 laser rifle and I never bothered about the lack of sights, but as they add a new "iron sight" mode to the game, some actual iron sights would be kinda useful.

The way a laserrifle could work without any kind of sights is if it first emits a low powered beam in a visible spectrum to aim. As soon as the target is aquired, the shooter increases the power to the beam. Easy to aim, but still silly since the target will know when it is time to dodge (though one would have to be really fast considering a "bulletspeed" of c). And multiple targets would know exactly who is targeted, so there is no suppression effect.

Hmm... no, too complicated to justify the lack of sights, so i will just assume ist due to the usual stupidity then.

Also, a low powered beam wouldn't be that visible over greater distances in daylight without any sights.

i heard that the BoS will reprise their role of mysterious tech scavengers.

I'm failing to see how the BoS have ever been mysterious. They've made it quite clear that they want technology and that they don't give a shit about anybody else.

The BoS have always been a beacon of purifying light in a decaying wasteland. I was surprised when Bethesda grasped the 'knights of the round table' concept from Fo1 and actually made it better. Hopefully we learn more about the BoS in NV and how they're connected to the east coast.

'cept that rifle only showed up in Broken Steel
