Pretty much. Feargus also confirmed it once to GameBanshee though I don't recall if the interview was published.

Fallout 3 initially planned for less DLC too IIRC, the number was upped due to success. I doubt the same thing would happen to New Vegas at this rate, so for now, 4 is the plan.
 
Wasn't it the general idea that there were four DLCs confirmed (perhaps the first three after DM was released), and that there might be more if the first four DLCs did well?

I think on that basis Obsidian thought of additional ideas but had not put them into development yet, wanting for the go word from Zenimax.

I don't think Obsidian's putting a lot of effort into making ideas for additional DLC. Why would they? There's no deal for 'em. But if asked, I'm sure they could come up with something.
 
Okay, the whole additional DLC thing wasn't really clear for me.

I thought the first four were already planned but then news started to pop up mentioning that even more planned.
I figured that some sources probably got the facts confused with the first four DLC but at some point it seemed that there would indeed be DLCs after Lonesome Road.

Not completely true, they confirmed it in a blog post. Admittedly, not the most visible place, but yeah.

This kind of thing happens to the wrong people most of the time. That's why I hate it.
Never heard of Bethesda Fallout 3 dialog writer getting fired, the irony.

But I think they will get a good job opportunity nevertheless, their job record shows a lot.
