Opinions on Youtube Celebrities and gaming personalities?

Personally, I find most of them to be Attention whoring assholes with 14 years olds being their main demographic, but some lesser known personalities can be very funny, like the Asdfs and CHKillroy.

Rooster Teeth can be very funny at times too, but that teeters on the edge.

I like Egoraptor. . . . and uh, that's about it. All the other youtube people I like aren't really known that much.

I like TotalBiscuit (Yes, whatever, shuddup) and Jesse Cox. The Game Station in general, although Dodger freaks me out because she looks a whole lot like my sister.

Dodger looks and acts a lot like a friend.... and that's why I watch her, Don't judge me I am man too....

Right now I like Total Biscuit, he has interesting opinions even when I don't agree with him, Alchestbreach is hilarious, Fitztislewits is weird and he uploads once in a blue moon but he is funny, also Egoraptor and alll his animation friends.

I used to like Doug Walker, but after the last 2 aniversary movies and he being a bitch and going back on his cancelling the stagnant Nostalgia Critic show for new material I just lost all respect for him.

Also Spoony when is not in one of his bipolar episodes.

I like AlChestBreach, too. I also like JonTron, I liked Game Grumps, still kinda' do, but Jon left :(, but I didn't bitch about it.

I like the old AVGN, he just feels different now.
Two Best Friends are also really funny.

I don't really like the more famous YouTubers, most of them are annoying as hell and appeal to dumb kids.

Edit: How the living hell could I forget? I like Yahtzee a lot, but you probably already know that.

I don't know, Jon always ticked me off with his complete disregard for Game Design and all his praise for things like Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite and Fallout 3 depsite the fact that he has a show where he criticizes badly designed games.

Whch is kind of a thing with retro gaming reviewers, they can be pretty harsh to bad old games but with the newer stuff they are as easily pleased as everyone else.

Edit:
How could I forget Brad Jones? that guy is awesome (the Cinema Snob).
Also Jesuotaku is one of the few TGWTG producers I still watch, but she seems to only have patience for anime and just jumps too early to conclusions with Western animation shows.

Nostalgia Chick is fine, but she hasn't uploaded anything recently.

True, so very true, and fuck yeah, Cinema Snob is awesome!

Haven't watched Cinema Snob in a long while. I like Counter Monkey show from Noah Antweiler and watch his streams if I happen to be on the internet whenever he does them, but most of his late work is not the same, I miss the ol' riffs and lets plays.

What happened with the AVGN is that he has started as a just for fun thing but now he has gone more pro. I actually like the show more now probably tho.

Also, FPSRussia does blow up some serious ordnance, and tho he started rather small his show now has a full production value of any decent TV show out there, certainly no random attention whore talking head on youtube.

Another TotalBiscuit fan here... I also follow Yogscast 2 (Hannah), Jesse Cox, Angry Joe, TUN (tasteful understated nerdrage), and Errant Signal (who does the best analysis of them all).

Angry Joe does good game reviews, I like to watch his reviews more in an informative way than for the entertainment.

Re: Opinions on Youtube Celebrities and gaming personalities

hmm I am not sure about Joe. I think he is "funny" kinda. And some of his reviews are "good", like about Colonial Marines which is a shit game. But most of the time it seems that he is just tryng to go with the popular opinion rather then to give out his real opinion.

I think some people really have the talent to entertain others and in some cases its good to have some players tream their games and talking about the games, giving tips and details, theory crafting and all that stuff. You just have to avoid the attention whores.

Though, I would never see those people as anything else then "someone who happens to post on youtube". Doesnt mean they can not try to earn money with it, and some do, very succesfully. But as said, at the end of the its just a dude in the internet. Same can be said about any celebrety really. I like them for their skill, those that have some, like great singers or actors. But if I would see one of them on the street? They are just people too. I would say hello and all that, beeing happy about the coisidence to meet a famous person. But not really freaking out just because they are celebreties.

Can't stand the YouTube celebrities. Used to be a time I watched Angry Joe for the sake of run down and dry jokes, but that was when I had the decision to either stare at a wall when I eat or watch something as I eat... to me, they do little to anything else but stating their opinion and acting up to "entertain" their public (Who are mostly young, 11-14 year old folks).

Celebrities need to be popular to become it, so usually that means simpler content for the masses.

So obviously the lesser known ones rule in quality. I follow:

Instig8iveJournalism
RedLettermedia (The exception I suppose)
Noah Antwiler (Spoony)
Campster (Errant Signal)
Smudboy
BelatedMedia
MrBtongue
FancyTyme (J.E. Sawyer)
Shamus Young (So sad he quit, youtube that is)

I've always had this odd personality disorder where I find it almost impossible to become irritated, so I really don't care how derpy or ADD-addled someone is as long as they're not straight-out murderbait like Fred or Annoying Orange. Mostly, I let my girlfriend pick the vids. The regulars around here are:

KSIOlajidebt
PewDiePie
Cry (Cryaotic)
Fine Brothers/Teens(/Elders/Kids/YouTubers) React
JacksFilms
Doug Walker/Nostalgia Critic
Nostalgia Chick
Ash Burch (Hey Ash Whatcha Playin?)
Two Best Friends Play/Matt & Pat's Shitstorm of Scariness
Jenna Marbles

In general, yes, a lot of online personalities are the kind of people you'd either find in a high school drama class or refilling a Ritalin prescription at an all-night pharmacy. It sort of goes hand-in-hand with putting yourself in front of a camera as a hobby. Most of them, though, whatever their flaws, are usually interesting enough to keep me from wanting to watch them spontaneously combust onscreen, and some are pretty good.

We follow a ton of YouTube musicians, too, but that would be too long a post to make, even for me. Erock, Pomplamoose, BrentalFloss, Lindsey Stirling, Pentatonix and Peter Hollens are the ones that update most often.

TotalBiscuit is a bro.
I know him from way back. He's a very nice person to hang out with or play games with. And yes, he constantly does talk with that accent, it's not faked. :)

But anyhow, as for the subject of "celebrities": they're normal people too. And they fuck up like everyone else. Just like sports, TV or movie celebs. You have total retards & great guys alike.

Personally, I like TotalBiscuit, taofledermaus, hickok45, ForgottenWeapons, NurdRage, SmarterEveryDay & periodicvideos.

Well I enjoy watching Two Best Friends Play and The Runawayguys. They're probably the biggest Youtubers that I enjoy.

Everyone else I like is a bit smaller. Like HCBailly, SlimKirby, LowTax, Retsupurae, Criken, Kilplix, ect.

total biscuit and yhatzee here

my favorite video is the "modern military shooter" video by TB.

Not quite gaming, but still Youtube-personalities, I like Ola Englund's and Keith Merrow's videos. Englund does excellent demonstrations of guitars, amps and whatnot, and Merrow makes phenomenal music.

I like Nostalgia Critic and Nostalgia Chick. Otherwise I'm not very versed in youtube celebs.

On an odd side note, I was chatting with a Greek chick, and mentioned my one year of animation course, and a class-mate there who was always extremely productive, Lasse, and she went "Lasse... Giertsen?" and I went "what, you know him?"
Apparently he is also a youtube-celeb of sorts, making animations and such. I've no idea the extent of his celeb-ness, but hey, he's known in Greece!

Edit, retroactive agreement with Lexx.
