Permanent Radaway Addiction FO2

RadAway addiction !? (US v1.02)

Recently my character became addicted to RadAway, although he never used them,
but kept some in his inventory, he is radiated, too

and there is no penalty at all, what is even more strange
I went back to an older save where he stood right in front of the SAD entrance without addiction
when I went in (without RadAway in my inventory) he became addicted after a few minutes again without using that drug

and it seems as when this message about being addicted to that stuff stays to the end of the game


Maybe someone could explain to me what triggers that bug and how I can avoid it, it is somehow annoying :-)

hm I found out myself

activating security systems for lvl1 did the trick, guess that's one of Skynet's counter measures, eh ? x( :P

I've noted this effect as well, that's what prompted the comment in my guide that addiction messages can stay in the character screen even after you're not addicted any more. More recently I realized it's always RadAway, so I guessed that some script sets the wrong global variable, harmlessly setting that addiction flag. But, hey, a script bug in Fallout 2? Nooooooo...

What problems may apper because RadAway addiction?
 
OK newb here, was trying to get addicted to everything,jet ,psycho, nuka and i got cured but after going to dr troy in Vault City, he cured me of rads and i got addicted to radaway.I thought no prob, should wear off after about a month - 2 years later it hasnt. Are there any editors for addictions, or an item i can import like for example "full addiction heal" kind of like the "heavy healing" item. How long should radaway addiction last, or has dr troy given me a permanent addiction?
 
At some points in the game there is a glitch that causes the wrong variable to be set - giving you permanent radaway addiction, but not actually lowering your resistance and in fact protecting you from the "real" addiction. Check out Per's guide, I believe there was some information on that topic there.
 
Addicted to RadAway

I have a problem in fallout 2. I've a radway addiction, I took it ones or twice with some rad-x at the Ghecko powerplant. I cannot shake it of, it doesn't matter if i travel the world map 50 days or just wait a couple of days. It doesn't effect my skills i think, but i want to get rid of this bad karma.
strange thing is: i thought i had managed to shake it of at least one time. But it reapperd even without taking radway. Can this be a bug???
Are there other ways to get rid of addiction?

You can get what looks like a permanent RadAway addiction in the SAD through a bug. It's not real, though, and prevents you from getting addicted for real.

I didn't know what to do, shaking it. Off to playing F2 again, now i know it is a bug.

Ive been addicted to rad away and nuka cola quite a few times.... its harmless and has no negitive modifiers.
 
Help I'm addicted (and not just to F2)

It's my first time playing F2 and I got my beloved spear-chuckler addicted to Rad-Away. Is there a way to remove addiction? A Betty Ford Clinic somewhere near The Den perhaps? Am I seeing stuff or is the side effect of beeing addicted to Rad-Away getting radiation levels?
 
You should have searched this forum for "RadAway Addiction" before asking such questions.
