Powder Ganger HQ (spoilers)

Hey,

I've found the Powder Ganger HQ - the prison. Disguised as a PG. The guard says he sees through it but still talks to me. I bribe him to let me in, he accepts the bribe... but as I approach the door the whole place goes hostile. Am I missing something?

Thanks...

Are you heading to door before he has a chance to unlock it?

Also, you can just kill the guard and anyone else who pops out of the door, flee, then come back later disguised and be able to walk in freely.

Do what I did - kill Dawes and as many of the other guards who come out (Incinerator and Dynamite help) and then flee once they stop coming out of the door. Come back later and loot Dawes's key.

Could just be a bug and he sees though you and isn't supposed to be saying he will let you in. A bug like you said, all the FO games have been full of them!

or maybe it's one of your companions making them hostile. I had that happen to me with Boone and Caesar's Legion.

Correction, not all of the games have been full of bugs, only bos, some parts of fallout two, all of fallout three, and apparently new Vegas.

Guards can see through your disguise. It's said in the infobox that appears when you put a disguise on for the first time.

BUT I'm pretty sure that this one is a bug as you get a quest from (?) the PG leader ("Quest failed" appears if you kill him).

Fallout 2 unpatched was an extremely buggy mess for sure. Thankfully patches and fan patches fixed the majority of it.

The prison does seem to be sketchy though. I was hated by the powder gangers but still walked into the prison and one of the guys told me that even though I had wronged them they were still going to give me a chance to work for them. Luck/Charisma based? Who knows.

I know one thing is for sure, if you decide to raid the prison don't ever expect that alarm to go off. 25 real hours later when I was close to finishing the game I went back there and that thing was still just sounding off as loud as before.

**SPOILER***

I raided the prison with the NCR, took it over and closed the quest.

Yet the radio still says that it was a failed attempt to retake the prison by NCR troops. I felt that was bizarre. Did I miss something?

Also, around the same time (within 30 minutes of real time) after leaving the prison, it flashes up on screen: Sgt. McGee has Died. Wasn't he the guy at the NCR camp just outside of Primm who didn't really say much?

Everyone having the same experience or did I miss something here?
