First time out of the vault
Long story short, I feel it's time to get a new gaming console. I just can't decide on which ones to get. All of my friends gave me different answers and none of the websites I've been to can't make up their damn minds either. I just need some good old fashion bias to swing me one way or another. Any input about experiences with either console would be much appreciated.
Additional information:
  • I lean more towards the "filthy casual" side of the gaming spectrum
  • I do care how the games are presented graphically
  • Multiplayer is pretty important (my friends all have one or the other, so I can still play with some of them regardless of which one I end up getting)
  • I'm a broke son of a bitch
  • PC gaming isn't an option right now
Thank you for all your help!

I just recently bought a PS, and to me it wasn't even a dilemma
I just trust the tried-and-tested-ness of Sony's console
X-Box, to me, will always be a noobish competitor on the market.

Now - this is nothing but bias, on my part, I realize that, but... that's my vote! :D

If you're really into multimedia stuff, the One is great. If you're mostly into gaming and went the most powerful console on the market, go PS4. As someone who has owned both, I did prefer the PS4.

I'd go with PS4. I'm paranoid that at some time in the future Microsoft will "patch" the XB1 to use their pre-launch "features".

PS4 is getting retrocompatibility with Ps3 and PS2 isn't it? Those had a better selection of games than either XBone or PS4 so I'll say go for the PS4.

No retrocompatibility on PS4.

Yes, there is Playstation Plus which is supposed to be a catalogue of PS3 games emulated for the PS4.

But the catalogue isn't that awesome. (This is the US one, although I myself am in the UK, where I don't even know if the service is available at all). I'm also not convinced by the tech of streaming games, but like I said I haven't tried it.

Regardless of the retrocompatibility, I went for a PS4. Cause of bad experiences with the XBox 360, in terms of hardware and UX. I'm still keeping it though to play a selection of games, including NV.

Because despite all the negative backlash because of all the features, Microsoft said that they'd be interested in adding them back in at a later time. They didn't outright say they would add them back in mind you, but you know how Microsoft can be.

I don't recall them saying that. Source?
