Question about Yurop stuff

Jotisz

Mildly Dipped
I know Yorop mod had died but it had a lot of nice stuff my quistion is that is there any actual frm that had been saved from it.
If no is there anyone who knows the original creators cause I would like to aks a permision from them to playaround with/recreate some of their work especially the talking head of the prof

As far as I know, the most is lost and the other will not be released to the public.

Well I guess then they wouldn't be too happy if I would begin to use their work.
Anyway I should have come up with an original idea....

I asked a project leader (a friend of mine, perhaps) for a million times and no way. And reported it here at NMA forums as well, so.....

Anyway, why? Whywhywhywhywhy. Their stuff was good, but in comparation with Ghostus / Contie really, REALLY nothing special.

Also, they've been hacked by some fuckin' Serbian at the very end, so shame on you, Serbs.

I don't want to sound like an asshole but AFAIR they ran a _very_ outdated phpbb version on their server. If mod projects would be run like professional software projects (keeping the servers secure by installing the latest security updates; using proper version control solution instead of simply using an FTP for these purposes) this wouldn't have happened.

They had some nice talking heads that would be good to use, even the dialogue and quests could be recycled so I don't see why they are unwilling to share it if they dont want it :(

But it's not a sane reason to hack anyone as well, but yeah, you're prolly, erhm, absolutely right in your point of view.

AFAIK, they have been mistaken for Kosovians (or vice-versa), so we may find that act as politically oriented. :)

Those dialogs - I've seen some - were epic... well, in a certain way. This means, they were good for a game set to a post-war Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, and Poland (with a proper focus on idioms, local dialects and so, y'know).

Later digging up one of their (most active) dialogue writer was one of my best dictatorial moves ever (besides taming Contie and some other things... hey, Cont, where are you?! :). So yeah, it's a big 'modding carcass' - a worthy one.

Also, IIRC the leader's going to recycle a plenty of Yurop's ideas in any new commercial project he'll be able to fund someway.

The problem is, even if there was any content, it would be a complete mess, hard to understand and sort out. We have pretty good tools but it's still not easy for new members to fit in and work productively, so imagine getting several gigabytes of "ftp mess" without any clues, with files scattered among several directories and in many different versions, named "new head", "new new head", "other head don't delete".

I would scan all of it and use, what I think would be really cool. \o
