Ranger Boo Plays And Reviews

Life is Strange is not as offensively bad as people pretend it is. It's a bit cringey, but so is getting your knickers in a bunch over some cringey lines. The story and gameplay aren't masterpieces by any stretch of the imagination, but y'know, it could be worse. Like, almost every other game on the list, although I guess all of them besides Revolution 60 and the Fallout mods are vastly overblown in their reported terribleness. And I'm not even sure about Revolution 60 tbh.
Would TLOU2 even be offensive to anyone who isn't a massive fan of the first one? I don't know shit about the games, and all I heard was that it did a massive disservice to established characters, so I don't think I'd give a shit besides about the stuff that is obviously bad writing or bad game mechanics.
Let's be honest here:
The rage-review/stream-market is pretty saturated, and it is very, very easy to end up being cringe af if done badly.
 
I don't even know what Life is Strange and I honestly couldn't be bothered to care. You want bad games, though? Let's see...

Necromunda: Underhive Wars sounds like it was janky as shit. Might be worth some time.
XCOM: Chimera Squad is something I never played but looked like absolute trash.

I'll offer a palate cleanser game as well. This one I did actually play and will endorse wholeheartedly. Return of the Obra Dinn. It's made by Lucas Pope, the guy who did Papers Please. Wholeheartedly recommend it. Probably my second favorite game of 2018 after Battletech. They're different games though and if Battletech hadn't sparked my interest in an entirely new setting Obra Dinn would probably win out.

Sooner the better, I still don't know what to do with a lended copy of this game, play or play frisbee with street mutts. One year later, yes.

This. The rage review was fun about 10 years when YouTube was starting to become a thing, but a lot of it hasn't aged that well.
It went from a comedic gimmick to People thinking being angry is a personality type.

Just so you know I am going into this game blind. Who knows, I may end up liking some parts of it but this is the one everyone wanted me to play. After that I was thinking of either doing Revolution 60 or The Frontier. I feel like I should do the Frontier first as I have a bit of history with that mess.

The Frontier is a work that I think has a lot going for it and a lot of being a complete mess. I think I was a lot easier on it than most reviewers.
 
Play the remastered version of Wasteland 1 and do a review for us! We also need a review of ATOM rpg and I think Underrail. We are far behind on official reviews of games relevant to this site.

Please consider writing something formal for the front page.

I can see about doing those when I get off work. Be nice to play good games. If this goes well I can see about being the unofficial reviewer for this site.
 
With the Frontier, there is just no shortage of content to analyze. It's such a massive project with so many strange decisions around every corner of it. I never tire of reviews of it. BUT, as funny as NCR is, Crusaders or Legion are where most criticism should go these days. Because those are the quests that will remain when the NCR quest gets replaced by Nazo.
Either way, looking forward to that one.

And Nazo is a horrible writer. I look forward to ripping apart the Legion quest as what he did to the Legion should be consider a crime.

AT LEAST there's no Legion America. For America alone Sisterhood of Mormon Jesus is the worst questline.
 
Got done with the 4th part of Life is Pain. It is awful. It has been a while since I had such a negative experience playing a game. Sunday I will be done with this bitch and delete it from my Steam account forever. After that it is Frontier time baby! I am thinking of opening up the Discord to anybody that wants to join me so we can all dunk on this mod together. Let me know and I will send you the link.

Will add that to the list. So next is the Frontier which I think the site could use a review of, then New California, Atom, Underrail, Kenshi and I was also thinking of doing a review for the HoI Old World Blues mod since it is also Fallout related.
