Hello Community.

I have been working with Fallout Tactics on and off since about 2007. Since then I have made a few things that I think I should share.

Red-Tec Sprites Pack 1 is just a few of my earlier sprites that I still use in my project, I hope they can be of use...

You did a good job on these. The miscellaneous items look great, and I like how on most of the weapons you adopted the skewed perspective used in the game rather than a right-angle view that often makes custom sprites clash with the original artwork. Of all the weapons, the 1856 Volcanic Pistol is particularly admirable.

Did you have any particular item usage or parameters in mind when coming up tent imagery?

Thank you, these are actually about 10% of the original amount of sprites that I made. Some I still have, most were lost due to a massive data loss that made me stop modding this game. But seriously, no matter what I do I always come back to this game and my project within it.
Ha, the tents... :) These are just a bit of fun that dont really have much function other than dropping them on the ground and lying down in the right position to make it seem like your character is in a tent. Yeah I could have made them into tiles but I wanted something portable. I did try a campfire and was getting close to a finished product untill I lost nearly all of my data...
The vast majority of the objects I make are functional and for mass immersion (millions of weapons, ammo, food...etc...) but every so often I try little ideas out too, the "PNRAA"s are actually portable audio devices, but just the test product for now.
Once I get enough time, I will pack everything up including entity files, locale, sound effects and sprites so that they are easier to use for modders.

Your work is awesome. The Books and Items are exactly what I am looking for. I completely agree with your idea about mass immersion.
The portable tents are really cool.

You say that you lost most of your data, that's a real bring down. I lost some of my speech files a while back, so I know how it feels...

of the remaining (unreleased) items do you have any rings or jewelry sprites? I have a functioning 'marriage' subroutine in my mod, but I could sure use some decent wedding rings.

Any help to get my Mod out the door would be greatly appreciated. If not that's cool too. I don't wanna seem like a beggar or a mooch so I would be willing to exchange work for work, or even have a few of your own custom entities put into my mod or maybe some other type of comp - I'm an awesome mapper...

Thanks alot! You're work is great. The sprites look fantastic in game.

I am very impressed... Thanks Again, the Wedding subroutine is nice now with the nice rings...

Working on a massive guns and ammo sprites pack at the mo.
It will take some time to complete... I may have to split it into sections.

Ok I am preparing some sprites for ya to make!
They will be Enclave II's sprites, thank you for the assistance my sprite makers will get a small brake so you are not just helping me your helping them as well.

You don't have to make them ASAP you can take your time ;)

My new sprites project is... increasing in size as I create it! I can't help it, I'm overloading myself in a way that makes things impossible to complete. But I have a plan emerging...

My recent project involves guns and ammo and will be majorly overwriting my last attempts at sprite creation. The only problem is; I keep finding guns and ammo types that I can't help but add to the project. My solution to this would be to concentrate and release small sections of the overall monstrosity to keep with realistic expectations. Otherwise I may never actually finish the project in full! Seriously, do you know how many different types of ammunition is out there? And the weapons that use them? Exactly...

So the plan is this;

Work on one caliber of ammunition and a number of weapons that may use it (over 10) and then release the sprites for them. I could edit some entity files but that would make my work even harder, especially when the stats I choose may not be what people want them to be. So I encourage anyone that uses my resources to use the "Brotherhood of Steel Entities Editor (BoSEE)" to change ammo types. Just remember, if you save the entity in the Fallout Tactics editor AFTER you have set the ammo type with BoSEE, the ammo type will revert to default. ALWAYS use BoSEE after you have done everything you need in the Fallout Tactics editor.

To be honest though this project is systematical and machine like... It would be nice to have a change every so often and do requests.

I will post any and all progress in this topic...

Alright, preparations for my weapons and ammo project are almost complete. Just a little more research and data collection and I will begin work on the first caliber type.

Before that I thought I may as well throw in some old tiles I worked on a long time ago. Some are just re-colours of original tactics tiles, others are my own creations. To be honest I find them a bit crappy but nevertheless I will share them anyway in hopes that some modders may find them useful. Also a while back I mentioned green grass tiles...

These are the only recent additions within this pack. The "Grass and Water Tiles" were originally created by Clint Bellanger (opengameart.org) and even though they are a little smaller than tactics floor tiles, I think they are still useful. All I did was convert Clint's work into Fallout Tactics tiles.
Now, The "Megatiles" are my own idea that I started work on about a month ago. These are intended to make mapping easier but there is a trick to using them correctly (link the tiles together by concentrating on where the bounding box is), with a little practice you can have a large area carpeted with seamless grass textures in minutes. The only problem is I stopped working with them when my weapons project came along so I did'nt create cliffs, trees, blending tiles...etc... Maybe I will pick this green grass project up again once I have finished my recent endevours. I do think that "Megatiles" are a good way to go so long as you can blend them into roads and alternating terrain but that will have to wait, for now, unless someone wants to pick this project up where I left it?

Anyway, This crappy, half-finished tile pack is here as an incentive of things to come. Hope it helps somewhat...

It has come to my attention that the "BoSEE" editing program may be difficult to find since it was created a long time ago, therefore I will post a new link here.

Even though I did not create this program it is important for changing ammunition types of my weapons and will let you edit and change parameters of entities in ways that the original FTTools will not.

Credit to Dr. W95 for creating this software.

Well, If you really mean that, there are a few sprites I need to help finish off my Mod. here's a look...

The Rafts need to be shrunk to the appropriate size and it's mean't to be in the same manner as your portable tents.

The Bamboo pole needs to be shrunk to the same scale as the Bamboo raft. The Balaclava, Fencing foil, Camera tripod and others need to be shrunk to the appropriate scales again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I understand how hard it is to find time, so if you are unable to help that is allright...

Wow...

First of all thank you both for taking an interest in my work and assigning me with the task of making these.

Right... As my first edition of my "Weapon Project" is very near completion I will need to finalize a couple of things first and post my first weapon pack tonight. Then I will work on RobertHouse's requests. Sorry xkcon but I promised Robert to make him some sprites quite some time ago. So...

@ RobertHouse; I will begin work on your sprites immediately after I have finished the first weapon pack that I have been creating recently. All of your requests are very simple for me to create so it should not take too much time but you know that with my current life predicaments it will take longer than most sprite editors. Actually the vast majority of your requests are weapons within my recent project so you will be receiving sprites that will eventually be used within my own game. Good choices dude.

@ xkcon; Straight away I noticed that you are after very unique sprites that are specific to an unusual game. This does'nt deter me, it intrigues me... Unfortunately you will have to wait a little longer as I mentioned before but before I do get to work on them I have some questions; Should'nt a raft be able to move? and if so, should'nt it be a vehicle? Regardless these are some very interesting choices dude and I will be happy to create them for you.

Alright, the first edition of my "Weapon Project" is available for download.

This pack of sprites focuses on a rare type of .22 caliber ammunition known as ".22 BB Cap" (Bulleted Breech Cap) and it's more modern successor, the ".22 CB Cap" (Conical Bullet Cap). These types of ammunition are more commonly known as "6mm Flobert Short" across Europe. This is the smallest caliber I will be working on and realistically does very little damage. Originally designed in 1845 for weapons that are virtually non-existant and extremely difficult to find in the modern day as the design was quickly overthrown by advances in technology, with exeptions of a few modern day enthusiasts and weapon manufacturers still producing CB type ammunition and small arms, this caliber type has become somewhat of a vintage and a lost chapter in the history of firearms. Present day weapons of this caliber are usually only created for varmint control or target practice. If you wish to learn more about this caliber, reports and facts can be found on wikipedia.

Average muzzle velocity (Energy joules); 35 J

Here is a preview of what sprites the pack contains;

I have also written a brief description of the 6 types of ammunition and 13 weapons in this pack from sources found in my research. Obviously there are modders who may wish to edit the entities as they please, and rightly so, but there are also those who may opt for a more realistic feel. These descriptions are to save looking around for exact specifications as I have already found most of what is needed, if for some reason you need more details on these weapons and you are having difficulty finding what you need to know about them, just ask and I'll see what I can find. None of this information is vital to your modding, but it may help.

Here you go Robert, your weapon sprites are done.

I hope you don't mind but I took it upon myself to slightly change the angles of some of the images, to maximize sprite sizes where needed. Also there are a few other things you should know; The RPG image was already in BMP format with an added alpha channel, but it was really shabby. Whoever cut the image out could have done a lot better, I've tried my best to doctor the image so that the picture and alpha have smoother edging. Though I nearly scrapped the entire image to find a better one, I thought it would be best to keep the sprites as original to your choices as possible. I also ran into a few other problems when creating ground images for both missile launchers, I ended up improvising as not too many appropriate images could be found especially for the Matador, that would suit ground angles. Regardless of the minor problems I am happy with the outcome of these weapons, the AK, MP5, and the M4 are very good finds and make for authentic looking weapon sprites. Anyway, here they are...

Well this is kind of a spoiler, but in this instance the Rafts won't need to be a vehicle. The player will need to construct the Bamboo raft to access the Exit grids and then leave the location via the Goto mission command.

First let me say that I appreciate all the work you are doing for the FOT Modding community, and any help you can give me to finish my Mod will be equally valued.

The Weapons and Ammo you are making is certainly overwhelming. I may (in the future) add a new UBER guns and ammo store somewhere in my mod that will house all your creations.

I have finished your requests xkcon as best as I was able.

I have made these into sprites, not tiles, and have chosen to use different images when I ran into problems as discussed. But I am far from happy with this pack, especially with the Balaclava. I will need you to test these sprites as I did not myself so scale may be an issue, just let me know if you need me to change anything.
