Refueling the car in Fallout 2

StickDeath

First time out of the vault
I didn't know you could refuel the car in FO2, until I found this webpage, but the trouble is, my car ran out of power, and I followed the instructions for refueling it, but when I click to refuel it, my char, goes like it is trying to get in it, it doesn't show my inventory menu.

I have 1.02

In other, hopefully more understandable words:
Click it, holding down the mouse button, and a little drop-down menu should appear. Click the backpack icon in that drop down menu and then your inventory should appear. Select the micro fusion cells.

What your doing now is using the "use item on" function. Instead of dragging something to a quick item slot and using it from there, you can use for handier/quicker access in some cases.

StickDeath, I have removed your avatar for now. Oversized avatars are not allowed. The dimensions are listed in the profile change page of the forum.

I did wonder about that. Isn't there a function to disallow oversized images when selecting the avatar in the first place?

I believe the offsite ones are not checked, though the dimensions are listed for uploaded avatars.

Having an avatar that distorted the forum, as in this case, is just rude.

JUst to add an answer to his problem;

what you did wrong was *where* you clicked, you have to click on the *front*

If you click on the midle of it, you will drive, if you click on the back of it, you will see its inventory, if you right-click-hold, press the backpack-button, click the fusion cells, you will refuyel it.... :D

Actually, I think you can refuel from the center and drive from the front, it's all dependant upon which action ("Use" or "Use item on") you select. The front of the car counts as one object, the trunk as another. (You can see this easily by walking up to either half at night, you'll clearly light up the front, say, but not the back).

Say, Per, what does the little saying above your "Lizard" mean????

It's a play on Fo:BoS and Morrowind (made by jr. in the News forum, to be precise).

yeah, you might be right, I've thought of that, it shows even clearer in the mapper, the front and center is a scenery, and the trunk is an item...

Along the same lines of the car/trunk seperate items (Which has an obvious purpose), there are some large bookcases that seem to be two items... One is a searchable container, the other is an object of some kind; if I try to manipulate the "object" half, my character does the picking up animation and the Information display says I'm at my weight limit... Which brings up a couple questions: Why are they two items? What would happen if you could pick up the other half? How much does it weigh; is it any value the PC could ever carry? (like with natural ST 10, no small frame, and a bazillion levels of Strong Back and Packrat?) Or is it perhaps an infinity value or deliberately unreachable (like 999)?

I have also wondered this. Sometimes trying to search a bookcase if does say that it is too heavy. Because I'm a wee bit n00bish in coding/programming/thinking, I never thought it that way.

Actually I always wondered this too, so I used the mapper to see what it was...The Bookcase is actually 2 objects, the container (that you can't pick up since the pickup flag isn't set), & the Bookcase corner (there are 4 of them, 3 weigh 1099 Lbs, 1 weighs 1010). Better get started on your steady diet of Buffout :)

damn, I wanted to tell that, well, I can tell the reason; when a boockshelf is placed out in front of a wall, some of the shelf gets hidden behind the wall, thats why there is one more sction to put out, to hide the hide if you know what I mean.

excuse me if this post was wierd, I have just had a cold bath in the lake, so I'm freezing, you see, for some idjit reason, there aint any summer here on the west norway...

I also had a nice warm bath in a lake. I'm glad that we have a nice warm sunny summer here in SE Finland. ;)

Cool. I listed the "almost-gettable" bookcase piece as a bug in my guide, I'll add the explanation for there being two parts in the first place. Never figured it out myself, maybe if I'd done a litttle more mapping... speaking of which, maybe my rock hunting map could be posted on NMA? Er... to the mapping forum.

Yes, it was a little hotter, and a bit more sunny today! 8)
But the water was cold like hell. (Hell: Maybe wrong expression :P)

How cold was the water? In here it was about 19-21 degrees celsius in the depth of a bout 50cm.
