Removing the level cap

Is there anyone looking into the removal of the level cap?

And if it were me building the mod, I would also double the XP it took to level. And make skill bonuses from perks, equipment, etc. add to the skill cap of 100 rather than simply have no effect if the skill is already there from skill point expenditures. Actually what I would really like as well is to remove the skill cap, reduce the effect of skill by half (so a skill of 200 would be equal to the present 100), double the skill point cost to raise beyond 100 and triple the skill bonus of skill enhancing perks. I would also radically increase the range of effect of SPECIAL stats, increasing the handicap of low stats and magnifying the bonus of high stats. As it is right now, stat choices have far too little effect, making all character designs very similar and thereby reducing replay value.

I'm sure a lot of this will be addressed fairly quickly if we get tools, I know most of this stuff is on my list, personally.

For the mean time, you can use advlevel in the console if you'd like to simply play around with more skills/perks with the same character.

The only thing I'm not sure of here is skills over 100. I think this is going to be hard-coded, as you can't seem to mod skills over 100 with the console. The easiest solution would be to simply alter the current scale of skill gains and skill effects so that 50 is 100 and 100 is 200.

I sure hope someone mods the leveling system to be more consistent with the previous games. I love the new combat system. I love the storyline and world. I just want Leveling back!

I would love for negative perks/traits.

LOVE it.

I'd love having traits period.

I'd love having period traits!

Would totally add to roleplaying value when playing female chars. IMMERSION!

NPCs could also follow your blood trail if you're not....safe.

Awww.

In case anyone is searching this forum for the answer to their level cap problem, a first shot at fixing the issue has been released. This mod does not 'remove' the level cap, rather it raises it to 40. Better than nothing for now.

I hear that if you max out your skills you can't exit the levelup screen, so just removing the cap is going to be a bit problematic

That is true, for the moment. I expect we will see an increase in skill maximums coming out in a mod shortly. In the mean time, either play with an XP lowerer or don't have a high Int character.

Or you can team that up with the other mods out there that lessen the ammount of skill points you get per level

If stuck, you can close the skill menu with the console command "closeallmenus".

This will prevent you from adding perks, however.

At the moment there is a slower leveling mod now. Go to Fallout 3 nexus to find it. Id rather not link since there so many. This effectively makes it so when you play you dont need the cap removed. Takes longer to get there :D Thats my favourite solution so far and wtf?! This post system hates euro spellings. To funny :)
