Sawyer and Puuk want us to buy FOPOS

Lived Through the Heat Death
In the BIS feedback forum Doomsayer/Visceris asked why should we be hoping for the success of Fallout: Brotherhood of Steal for the X-Box and PS2 systems, he got this answers , first from Damien "Puuk" Foletto:

Gosh, I don't know, maybe so we can have the funds to finish Van Buren? God you're thick, Vis. I like you, Vis, but sometimes even you can wear on my nerves with your narrow, short-sightedness. Let's cancel FOBOS, now. And when IPLY folds because we have no revenue from shipped products, I'll remember your beautiful words of wisdom when I'm getting my unemployment checks and take solice in the fact that the people at IPLY maintained artistic integrity (which, of course, is subjective)..

J.E. Sawyer added this:

What's even better is that this is essentially the scenario:

1) BoS is in the final stages of testing. It's effectively done. It will get released.

2) If BoS does well, that makes the likelihood of a future PC RPG Fallout title better, and gives it more resources.

3) If BoS does poorly, that makes the likelihood of a future PC RPG Fallout title worse, and takes resources away from it.

Basically, BoS doing poorly basically insures that what Doomsayer doesn't want to happen will actually come to pass. Sound thinking!

So Interplay is dependant of FOBOS to survive? I think we can pack our things and leave then...
And i won`t buy the game, neither i will recomend it to someone else, so i`m officialy on the shortsighted club now...

Maquiladoras (Mexican factories that take in imported raw materials and produce goods for export) have become the landmark of trade in Mexico. These are plants that moved to this region from the United States, hence the debate over the loss of American jobs. Hufbauer's (2005) book shows that income in the maquiladora sector has increased 15.5% since the implementation of NAFTA in 1994. Other sectors now benefit from the free trade agreement, and the share of exports from non-border states has increased in the last five years while the share of exports from maquiladora-border states has decreased. This has allowed for the rapid growth of non-border metropolitan areas, such as Toluca, León and Puebla; all three larger in population than Tijuana, Ciudad Juárez, and Reynosa. The overall effect of the Mexico–U.S. agricultural agreement is a matter of dispute. Mexico did not invest in the infrastructure necessary for competition, such as efficient railroads and highways, which resulted in more difficult living conditions for the country's poor. Mexico's agricultural exports increased 9.4 percent annually between 1994 and 2001, while imports increased by only 6.9 percent a year during the same period.[22] One of the most affected agricultural sectors is the meat industry. Mexico has gone from a small player in the pre-1994 U.S. export market to the 2nd largest importer of U.S. agricultural products in 2004, and NAFTA may be credited as a major catalyst for this change. The allowance of free trade removed the hurdles that impeded business between the two countries. As a result, Mexico has provided a growing market for meat for the U.S., leading to an increase in sales and profits for the U.S. meat industry. This coincides with a noticeable increase in Mexican per capita GDP that has created large changes in meat consumption patterns, implying that Mexicans can now afford to buy more meat and thus per capita meat consumption has grown.[23] Production of corn in Mexico has increased since NAFTA's implementation. However, internal corn demand has increased beyond Mexico's sufficiency, and imports have become necessary, far beyond the quotas Mexico had originally negotiated.[24] Zahniser & Coyle have also pointed out that corn prices in Mexico, adjusted for international prices, have drastically decreased, yet through a program of subsidies expanded by former president Vicente Fox, production has remained stable since 2000.[25]

Sorry folks, I am strictly PC gamer.

I think it a foolish move to make a mistake in the products you are creating and then expect your consumers to purchase an inferior product on the basis that this might lead to the creation of new products of dubious quality.

I don't think I want real-time, 3D, multiplayter fallout 3 this bad.

I really don't care if FO-3D ever ships. Cain, Fargo, and Feargus have their own RPG companies now. Fargo has the Wasteland license. Troika is making a postapoc RPG. I'll wait for them.

Rather shitty that he seems to be blaming us for not buying the shitty game that Iplay has thrown the last of their money into. Bite me JE.

why couldn't they have just done fallout 3 instead? fobos will die like a little boy in the snow or something, there's a lot (better) 3rd person action shooters or something. And you know the game is a piece of shit if the developers seem to think this game is going to make or break interplay so ask people to buy it for the sake of fo3 or something. I'd rather interplay sink like a boy in the snow and someone else buy it, at least if we get another spin-off it'd be done well.

Me too, but if I would have a console I would buy a pirated version just to make sure IPLY won't get any damn money from me for this shit. And now JE has another big minus from me.

I'm with you. He's selling us the same crap people have been trying to sell this game with since it was announced, and the reasoning behind it is still crap. If your company is banking it's revenue and its future on a game sequel that is of poor quality, in a genre beaten to death already, and directly against the desires of the fans of the game then your company doesn't deserve to survive, plain and simple.

Hmm, they won't earn any money this way and will ruin Fallout's name.

Well, it sux.

( What will be next ? Some Fallout fighting game like Mortal Combat with Master as final bos ? )

Interplay has raped Fallout too many times, it ends now. Boycott the game, and force them to liquidate the licence. Sorry for Black Isle but all of you guys should have jumped ship before this point (like all the others).

Interplay will die in its own stupidity from crap games, the lord answered my prayers.

And remember, if an action real-time thong-filled Sellout title does well then what elements do you think will be put into FO3.

I couldn't bring myself to buy FoBOS even if it is the only hope Fallout has, it would just lead to more shovelware. I like my games on the PC, pure & simple, encouraging the trashing of a universe I enjoy is against my nature.

Hi everyone! I just want to say that I'm making the greatest computer game EVER!!! You'll all like it and want to buy it. Unfortunately, I'm not a multi-millionaire so I can't afford to make it. So, to show your support for me, I'm selling my faeces in little plastic bags. THAT'S RIGHT!! If you buy my shit, you'll be helping me make the GREATEST COMPUTER GAME EVER!

Every time I do a dump, I fish it out of the toilet and stick it in a little plastic bag parcel, ready for you! Just buy my shit and help support me! For those of you who are thinking "Ewww, I don't want your shit" I say, why not? It's *exactly* the kind of logic that Interplay are using to sell their latest title Fallout: Piece of Shit. So come on! BUY MY SHIT NOW!!

PRICING
Little Bag of Delight: $20
I've Got The Runs: $40
Big Bag of Joy: $80
I Spent Three Hours on the Toilet Making This Special Package (Collector's Edition): $200

DISCLAIMER: IN THE EVENT THAT MY SHIT SELLS WELL, IT'S LIKELY I'LL FORGET ABOUT MAKING THE GAME AND JUST SELL MY SHIT FOR A LIVING BECAUSE OBVIOUSLY THERE IS A DEMAND FOR SHIT, AND NOT COMPUTER GAMES.

-------------

We've been over this logic before. If FOBOS sells well, guess what we get? FOBOS 2. Rumour has it that FOBOS 2 is already in pre-production now. Interplay didn't get a clue when Tactics went bad. They still haven't got a clue, as evident by "turn based AND real time combat" plus "multiplayer". More importantly, they WON'T get the clue when FOBOS tanks.

Goodbye Interplay, remember to turn off the lights on your way out.

EDIT: removed the "purchase link". Sorry, but I like to keep the forums clean of goatse or tubgirl links -Kharn

DarkUnderlord, that may be the best parody I've seen about Interplay in a long time, if not ever! And I mean it!

But I really urge you to change that purchase link...

PLEASE!

This is the news section at NMA, not the Wastelands at DAC...

Yea, screw your little doggie too Sawyer, Puuk & Co.!

I hear feces contains stem cells. I'll buy a dozen Big Bags of Delight. When will Shit 2 - I Ate Corn arrive in stores?

"Hello, I'm J.E. Sawyer, and I make this statement *(sound of pump-action shotgun being loaded is heard in the background)* of my own free will *gulp*:"

Isn't it obvious what those bastards are doing? They are like desperate terrorists, holding our beloved Fo3 hostage untill they get their demands for killer sales of "Selllout: Peice of Shit" fufilled... :x

"Lionheart" DOA?

"Lionheart" an Interplay title,....... right?

Why aren't JE, et al, pushing a PC RPG product and thus, justify corporate support for THEIR PC RPG product?

Or are the reviews I've seen true and too many compromises were
cobbled together into a bipolar version of B-Gate vs Diablo.
The fantasy fanboys must be ""happy-happy-happy all the time-time"", getting what they wished for.

BGDA-2 will most likely do well, and engine recognition will support the sales of it's 'bastard' brother FO:BOS.

FO:BOS was intended for the console market. It will depend on those players. Not on 'mercy' sales to PC gamers. If they cater to PS2 gamers, then I'll see a demo in Playstation Magazine. If the resident 11 year old rents it, I'll at least find out if there is purple alien tentacle content...... I expect, a good review in PS Magizine, (or other similar rag) will clue the local adventurous, hyper reflexive, if the game is rentable.

A measurable cross platform appeal from name recognition was ham strung by the ass backwards PR fiasco when the title was announced.

Want 'mercy' sales? Why aren't they touting "Lionheart"'s SPECIAL roots?

4too

You know you`re right 4Too, at least they could ask us to buy LionRat, er, i mean Lionheart, it`s mediocre and the combat is the worse ever, but we wouldn`t have to that general feeling that you`ve just eaten alive frogs...

But i have to say i really want FO3, it`s starting to shape to be the best RPG in years, truly amazing :|

Well I'm also on the shortsight club, but I understand where JE and Puuk is coming from. They HAVE to say this, the suits have screwed up IPLY so bad that this is the last chance for Fo3..hence the JE' mind trick..

So yeah, screw you guys ! I'm going home!
