Then why don't _you_ set up a paypal account, grab a lawyer, write up some sort of legal document stating that all donations will go to Interplay if Interplay agrees to use the money to fund Fallout 3, and that if Interplay doesn't agree by a certain date then the money will be returned to the donators. See how much money you get. If you actually manage to collect $100,000, I'd be very impressed (and that would only be from 10,000 of the "30,000" people who signed the petition) and _that_ would mean a lot more to Interplay than a petition (which is easily inflated by posters using aliases and such).

And if Interplay refuses, then everyone gets their money back. No harm, no foul.

What do you think? Willing to skip a pizza delivery this week in the hopes of getting the game you want?

Tell you what, start up that account with the proper legal notification as I stated above, and I'll put in $10. Crazy!!!

Disclaimer: This crazy idea is just my idea and not the official suggestion of Interplay. Me posting this is not any sort of binding agreement from Interplay that they'll consider this offer. Personally, I don't think you'll be able to put together enough people willing to put their money where their mouth is.

I'll pay money

I would love to be involved in this somehow, if only just trying to convince people that they should donate money. The thing that makes me sick about this whole suggestion is that it still involves Interplay being in the mix. They have shown that they are willing to sellout to the almighty dollar, but I guess that's why it's a business and not a NPO.

We need a game company that works like that, and is only interested in pushing the art of gaming and not making money.

Man...I am such and idealist....

PS. I've read a few posts on here from time to time and recently saw how Ferrari was taken down, yet the discussion remained so very mature. It's exciting to know that this is a series that brings together people with such levels of maturity. It's what I would expect from fans of this series. Fallout 2 (still haven't played the first one) is my standard that I hold up games to, and has been since its release. It's prolly why, even though I've been a gamer since I was an infant, I am having trouble finding as much gaming enthusiasm these days. When I look at a game like NeverWinter Nights and see how so very static that world felt, where each conversation had about as much impact on the gaming world as a datajournal from System Shock had on that environment, it makes me sad for the state of computer gaming. Thanks guys for keeping the hope alive...as long as we can keep talking about it, perhaps it may happen.

So first this guy screws us by cancelling Fallout 3 (I take it this is the guy responsible for that back stabbing act) so all these resources (money) can be focussed on a bunch of crappy console games. (F:POS primarely)

And now he dares us to donate money if we want FO3 to be finished. Well answer me this, by who for example? The team working on FO3 is already fired and Puuk for example has already found a new job. Who says the rest want to return after you fired them two weeks before Christmas. (money is one thing, but people also have principles and self-esteem)

Perhaps a better dare would be, why would we, the gamers, give Interplay money so they can finish FO3? Because they hold the Fallout license? For how long, I am pretty sure that they are going to sell it to keep Interplay in existence in a month of two or three.

I think I will keep my $10 in my wallet and simply wait this out

I've got a better idea, we set up a paypal account thingy, not to bribe Interplay to make FO3, but to buy the intellectual property itself (need a crap load more money) then we sell the rights to the game to another, better software house, with the understanding that those who donated got however much they donated off the game upon release?

Or have I been drinking too much again?

OK....it seems that this exact same topic in now in 2 boards on this forum. I might as well make my point here too...

I've suggested things like this countless times before. It just probably won't work. We'd need a lot of legal counsel, which costs money. We'd need intense legal documents to make sure IPLY doesn't screw us out of whatever money we contribute, even though they probably will find a way regardless.

Hi Darkfox

Just wait it out ;) As Interplay looses more money, Titus and Vivendi will grow more desperate to sqeeze more money out of its corpse and will probably sell the game licenses they have and make some money before the company closes.

Heh I wouldn't be mildly surprised to see sean k reynolds one day on the street holding a board saying "Will sell gaming licenses for food"

There was a post at the Unwashed Villagers Message board Gaming Forum with the top ten most wanted games ever that never saw the light of day... the top three were as follows...

Fallout 3
Baldur's Gate 3
Planescape 2

Hrmm I *wonder* who had the chance to make those

If the execs at Interplay knew what the hell they were doing, and actually stuck to their old motto of 'by gamers, for gamers' actually *listened* to their public, then maybe, just maybe they would'nt be sailing up shit creak with no paddle heading straight over I told you so falls...

At this rate, why not just scrape up the resourses to buy the damn company. If we gave Herve the money, he'd just use it to buy more, um, "doodads" for his lammas...

Hey, that's actually a good idea... the first games company actually owned by the fans... hrmmm if we all chipped in about $10 a month, and about 2 million people chipped in... and stayed in... and then we upped the money to about ohh I dunno, about 5 grand per person

Sorry, i'm being facitious

Where are you gonna get 2 million people, and then convince them to give you 10$? I want it to happen as much as you do, but Herve Caen is just a greedy pedophile and he'll just keep on making console titles.

As if it hasn't occured to anyone yet, Sean Reynolds is a fucking imbecile.

Oh, wait? Wasn't he already?

Simple fact, kiddies, is that Sean seems to want to hold all this credibility and goes to all these lengths to appear a complete moron. For what reason, I cannot fathom, but the boy just lacks brains. I wonder if it came about in that you can make any retard into a writer by adding marijuana and a thesaurus.

What prevents Interplay from funneling the funds into elsewhere with little problem of retaliation? That's right. Who is going to sue Interplay, spending more money over their small investment that looked like a dud anyways, and at which time Interplay would likely be at a much worse state than it is in now?

And if there is a successful class-action, there really isn't that much left there at Interplay.

So really, Interplay would only do nothing but gain from this, and the people who put their money into it are quite potentially screwed.

GREAT IDEA, SEAN! While you're at it, start working on those pyramid scam e-mails. They sound like your cup of tea.

(I wonder if Boyfriend Briareus will get all hurt now.)
