Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
a guy i know on another forum is looking for the name of a movie, here is the info he knows:

Alright Percivilians, I've got a random guess the film question with very very very very very limited information... but I've been trying to find out what this film is for the best part of 10 years and I'm not kidding either.
I used to watch it as a kid, probably around 1990-1995.
This is what I remember of it.
Sci-Fi.
Think it was made in the 80's and aired on TV during the day or early evening.
Main plot is a group of people, some human some humanoid (I remember one guy with big ears who had akimbo laser pistols) and they were protecting a kid of about 10-12 years old from 'the bad guys' Reason unknown.
The good guys got picked off one by one heroically saving the kid.
They traveled from planet to planet always on the run.
Their space ship was flown around by a 'ball' similar in those trackball mice.
I can't remember any actors in it, but the main guy had a beard I think...
The woman died in the forest, again, protecting the kid.
They blew up a huge (oil?) plantation, well it had lots of giant containers, pipes and went up in a big explosion. They shot it with their ship lasers.
I know it can be found, someone found the film 'Krull' for me which was the 2nd one I spent years trying to remember just from literally a few words so I'm hoping someone can do the same here.
