Senior Producer: "The Legion is our ... evil group"

Brycen

First time out of the vault
E3 Fallout New Vegas gameplay & interview [4:22]:

"The Legion is our—they're our evil group."

E3 2010 Stage Demo: Fallout - New Vegas [6:55]:

"Caesar's Legion—they're our bad faction of the game."

Fallout New Vegas: The Factions Trailer [0:15]:

J.E. Sawyer (Project Director): "Factions are really important to us. We didn't want to make it something where it was black and white, where you have a small group of good people against a small group of bad people."

In the full "Factions" video Chris Avellone states that his favourite ending is "independent" New Vegas.

However, notice that Josh Sawyer and Chris Avellone wore the NCR t-shirts during the game's presentation:

Just an observation.

They definitley could and should have had more redeeming qualities for the Legion. At least, more content for them. They're clearly the most lackluster option, not just ethically, but in terms of actual game content.

However, notice that Josh Sawyer and Chris Avellone wore the NCR t-shirts during the game's presentation:

And they should have worn...what, independent New Vegas shirts?
NCR is a recognizable part of the franchise, and two-headed bear flag was part of the marketing for the game. Doesn't have anything to do with dev preferences.

What's the point of this thread, anyway?

Uh, for example, the game's promotional logo:

But of course! Clearly the NCR is more "recognizable" than the franchise—Fallout.

It's Brycen being Brycen. Nothing of real value was gained or lost with this thread.
Well, I had no idea who he was prior to this, but I get a picture.
I thought Brycen would disappear like any other troll

U mad? Rage more, hypocrites!

It's quite evident that Fallout: New Vegas draws a close parallel to Wasteland (1988).

Wasteland Wiki: Las Vegas

Vegas is the city of Las Vegas. No one is quite sure how the Soviet missiles managed to miss the city, but most folks figure it was because the “house” was betting against a missile landing – and no one wins against the house.

Of course, the Wasteland franchise is all about the Rangers:

This is another observation that supports the original point.

Or y'know, why not wear shirts that show actual parts of the game, rather than simply the games logo.

The NCR are a group of people within the game, surely that's better promotional material than a silly logo?

Both are recognisable.

So long as you are wearing a shirt of a recognisable part of the franchise, do you need to maximise how recognisable it is?

:lmao: Not even mad tbh. Your reaction to our posts and your continued ramblings makes all this more hilarious.

Plus way to go using the wrong term as a description, I believe the term you're looking for is hater. At least use the right terminology if you want to insult someone. :smug:

Well, the NCR has been a faction that existed in Fallout 1 and 2. What better way to showcase the connection New Vegas has to the classic series as a whole by portraying the classic faction.

Plus the flag of the NCR would make for a nicer t-shirt design than New Vegas's logo (more colors than New Vegas's logo for starters) & as @Jogre points out, there is no need to maximize how recognizable it is.

EDIT: Enough said.

The Legion is pushing a legalize marijuana agenda, while being a reference to 9/11, while Obsidian is evil and worships the devil!
This is all stuff I came to expect from Brycen by now.

I am sure he only posts these kind of stuff to troll around here, but if he really believe any of this stuff I can only recommend he seeks medical help from experts. Wait, but what if the doctors are actually also pushing their own evil agendas?

If anyone doesn't know Brycen by now, he keeps coming back with Troll bait threads every time he gets bored or something. I am pretty sure he even makes secondary accounts to post about more theories (I remember another account I am pretty sure it is him, since it follows the same parameters and even the writing style and content is the same).

He keeps getting debunked, but he never gives up, it is all about conspiracy theories with this one.

My recommendation is do not feed him, he goes away after a while of not getting attention (as seen in the past).

Of course they are the villains. They are raiders*, what do you expect? I did not understand the purpose of this topic.

* and when I say raiders, I say the real ones, like the Khans, Den´s Slavers, Pitt Raiders and Powder Gangers, not the XP with legs like the ones in F4.

I wonder if this is the new iteration of Someguy/Greed (as in instead of referring to trolls as Someguy copies, we begin referring to them as Brycen copies).

What WAS the original point, anyway? That the Legion was underdeveloped, that Obsidian prefered the NCR over it? Well, yeah, obviously. The Legion IS the more evil option. While every faction is depicted as gray as possible in New Vegas, the Legion is quite extreme and doesn't try to be "good" in the classical sense. They're not the most obvious choice to root for due to most modern people's aversion against slavery and so on, so it's understandable that compared to the other factions they'd get the short end of the stick during the short development time.

Well, of course they are. It's a request from Bethesda, to make some "evil" faction that looks "evil" on the surface so anyone could understand that this particular faction is indeed "evil". BTW, Emil Hackilarulo (Bethesda's lead writer, sadly) prefers and takes as canon the NCR ending. So make conclusions on your own.

At least they didn't use a picture of a BOS paladin like their buddies from the east coast.

To be fair, there are a lot of XP with legs Raiders in New Vegas. They're just nowhere near as prevalent as in F3 or F4.

Also to be fair, the NCR ending is most likely the ending that a potential sequel would likely go with, considering that the NCR are generally considered "the good guys" and pro-NCR endings have been canonized for both of the original Fallout games.

And with every single one we are told which exact gang they belong to, as well as having a vague idea as to why that specific gang became raiders.
