Shadowrun

SkynetV4

Mildly Dipped
Way back when, I played two great snes and genesis games respectively. Two versions of the same game. Shadowrun, made by DataEast (which went out of business as some may recall) with the blessing of FASA (I think they went out of business). I have been hungering for any Shadowrun games (or cyberpunk themed rpgs for that matter) but most of the sites I found on google and metacrawler are way too old to be practical (one used pueblo, 1996). Does anyone know of any good, recent (Not earlier than 1996) Shadowrun or cyberpunk games? Computer based would be cake but even internet, text based (ala TDZK) would do. Thanks in advance for any help you feel you can provide.

The only post 1996 cyberpunk like game I can think of offhand is "Blade Runner", based off of the movie. Excellent atmosphere, pretty fun, and only $5!

If you haven't played it already, I recommend you make an exception and get a IIe or IIGS emulator and find a copy of Neuromancer. One of my favorite games ever, and one of the best cyberpunk games ever. The Apple version's graphics are much better than the PC's, but even play the PC version if you can't find the Apple one.

Anyway, The Underdogs has a cyberpunk section that might have something to interest you - just make sure you have pop-ups turned off before you visit.

But PnP which is unfortunately non-existant here in Panama. At least, Cyberpunk and Shadowrun PnP. Most PnP players down here, are semi-goth, Masquerade-lovers. You know what bugs me? That I have never found any ROM hacks for neither Shadowrun (consoles I mean).

Shadowrun was THE BOMB. I always wondered if it influenced the fallout team in any way.

Nobody mentioned it, but last year Shadowrun 4th edition was published. More info on offiacial Shadowrun page ( http://srrpg.com ).

@SkynetV3
If you're still interested: Check Battlecorps.com or Drivethrou.com - right now, you can obtain legal Shadowrun PDFs.

One more thing - if you're looking for Shadowrun equivalent of NMA - chceck dumpshock.com - biggest SR forum (and most important still alive).

Hope it'll help.

Yea Shadowrun paved the way for most cyber futuristc RPGs I still have both versions the one for SNES was the best though the whole setting and dark mood! When you first start the game and go into the alley and see that guy get capped by the orc!

I have a copy of the ROM for the SNES if anyone desperately needs it. Wait, piracy shouldn't be discussed here... Uh oh.

There's a Shadowrun game being made for the Xbox 360 as we speak. There's only been a couple of leaks so far, so no one has any idea what kind of game it's going to be. We should be seeing something about it at E3 this year, though.

If it's good, I'm buying a 360. If it's not, I'll just pretend it doesn't exist by never buying the console. Like PoS and the PS2 and Xbox. Yes, I hold the platforms accountable for the game.

Most things I've read point to the 360 game being a complete FPS. No one's really commented on if there will be more to the gameplay, but I'm betting on a Deus Ex type game at best, straight-up shooter at worst . Not that either is a bad type of game in itself, but I get the impression that what appealed to people about the pnp Shadowrun game or the versions for Genesis and SNES aren't going to be really captured in a first-person-shooter. Seems to be shaping up to be another UFO Defense -> XCOM Enforcer or Fallout -> Brotherhood of Steel type of transistion so far.

Bet - old news. One year old iirc?

Montez.
I'm very pesimistic about M$ plans.
That's why I gather team to create Arcanum Shadowrun mod.
More info - here.
Any advices? Opinions? Volunteers?
In advance, thanks for feedback.

I'd recommend checking out Syndicate, I think it came out for Sega CD and 3DO. Also Snatcher and Rise Of The Dragon were fun cyberpunk games, kinda old though. They aren't rpg's, rather cyberpunk quest type of games but kinda fun and were pretty cool at the time. You'd need an emulator for all of them though.
It's my first post, so hey

Syndicate and Syndicate Wars have always been PC games. I didn't know a PSX version of Syndicate Wars even existed.

I did a search for syndicate wars, didn't realize it was available for pc.... I had a playstation before I had a IBM related computer.. I was still playing with the apple IIE.. You can download the game at a few sites.. (Sites that want you to click on a junk mail sponser,, I don't trust those sites.) and then use Dosbox to play it.
I'd rather buy it.

I've always wished for a true shadowrun RPG. There were so many ways to build a character besides just throwing on some bigger badder armor and running into battle..

If you are looking for a good Cyberpunk RPG you should check out Restricted Area. It is a really cool mix between Fallout and Diablo. Definitly worth your time.

Just kidding. I just wanted to make Roshambo spit beer on his keyboard.

If you are honestly looking for a true RP Cyberpunk game and arn't afarid of text based MMOs (I use massive loosely) check out cybersphere. cs.vv.com

I played Shadownrun, the genesis version, but I never read the sourcebook or played it with a group. I played I long time ago GURPS - Cyberpunk module and it was freaking cool. Not to mention that US Secret Service agents raided the offices of SG looking for the manuscript. They thought SG's gang was related to a data piracy ring. :P
