Shaun of the Dead

Right, I have just seen the trailer for this movie, for it's release in the States. I was wondering if anyone in England has seen the movie and would care to give it a review? To me, at least in the trailer, it looks quite amusing, something I would definitely have to see. That's at least until there is more information about the movie from word of mouth and reviews over here.

Here is the IMDB entry for Shaun of the Dead.

A light, witty mix of the dry and zany, not for everybody's tastes, probably not even for most. A refreshing change from most films with a mix of subtle jokes, crude swearing, inside references and practical comedy. Supported by a cast of characters that should be instantly recognized by any follower of British comedy in recent years with actors from The Office, Black Books, Little Britain and of course Spaced. For me, a true gem to be treasured for years, I'd happily go see it agian and again.

Of course it probably comes down to "have you seen Spaced?" which I take it you haven't because most who've seen Spaced wouldn't ask about it, even though it isn't really like Spaced.

It's different, if you have the spare cash then I'd say go and see it, you might hate it, you might love it, but chances are it'll be different from most films you've seen. Just hope that most people in the audience are 18 or over, hope to god that there aren't any kids there to go "ewww" because although it won't ruin it, it wont be nearly as good.

Kids that go "eww" on movies are fun. At least you have someone special to throw popcorn and things at them.

So you throw things at special kids? Pervert.

In a London suburbia, Shawn is almost 30 and hasn't really achieved much in his life. He comes home from his mundane job each day, and goes to the same pub (The Winchester) that he always has gone to. He shares his flat with an ex-student friend, and his lifelong slob of a friend. On top of that, his girlfriend has had enough of him. Oh.and the dead have started walking the earth!

After reading this review I put this movie on my list. I'm going to see it.

I saw it on the airplane over to London.

Terrific, especially if you're a zombie movie fan. Definitely one of the funniest films I've seen in a long time, to boot.

Well, good. Sounds like my initial impressions from the trailer were correct.

I'm definitely seeing it when it comes out Stateside, thanks everyone!

I took out the link. Consider this a warning as well - No warez, no movies, no mp3s, and no discussion of the means used to get them is allowed here. There are plenty of places to go for things like that, and NMA is not one of them.

Jesus, Sovz.

Really, I'd much rather pay for an English movie, encouraging that sector of the industry, which is a good thing. Much rather have movies like Shaun of the Dead being imported from England than complete domestic tripe like SuperBabies: Baby Geniuses 2 (God help me, Hollywood should be nuked, right now, for ever allowing something like that to be created).
