Skill for making traps

Blackened

I should set a cutom tite
Since the current Traps skill is nearly completely useless, I'm thinking of a way to make it useful.

Is it possible to have a way in Fallout 2 to place traps on the ground (Raised Plate), adjust their damage and eventually have your opponents step on them? I guess that would require a lot of coding, if it's ever possible.

Also, can you think of other uses for Traps? Because all I thought of it this, plus perks with skill requirements and checks in dialogues/locations. But I can't see a good way to make Traps worth the skill points by just using those options.

(I am thinking of this, because I am planning on a mod, which, if ever gets released, won't be released this or in the next year)

This made my day!!!

Now I have enough ideas to theoretically make Traps totally worth it! However, if someone has other ideas about Traps, I'll be glad to hear them.

Some Vietcong insprired traps would be nice:

I visited the Cho Cho tunnels in Vietnam. They have some nasty traps there. My personal fav is the door entry trap that swings down with spikes. The GIs used to use their rifle butts to stop the trap, but Charlie was very smart, so they attached a hinge at the bottom, with another spike pole attached, that would continue into the poor GIs balls.

That's nice, but I need more ideas about uses for the skill Traps, not ideas about potential traps. The project is too conceptional yet to think about exact traps.

Okay. Here s a crazy idea. How about laying man-traps in the wastes. You can lay a trap and leave the location active, like the "car out of power" map. Random travelers will randomly get caught, and you can steal their loot.

You could have an entire quest line, where you trap a raider who's friends wait for you to return, or he could have clues as to his affiliation / base. Maybe with a high enough skill, you can attach a radio transponder that lets you know the snare has been activated.

Trapping would be more useful with a food system, as you could lay traps in Gecko hunting grounds etc.

This thing would be pretty good though I don't know how hard would it be to implement but considering that there are several people working on a food system I'm sure this one is possible too.

Still hoping I get more ideas.

Btw I didn't expected to get so brilliant idea so soon after posting the thread (talking about the Dude101's last post).
