So... does Silent Death work?

Can anyone confirm for me whether or not silent death is bugged or not? It doesn't seem to do anything for me, under any circumstances. I've tried unaided unarmed attacks, knuckles, power fist, super sledge, aimed, unaimed, just about everything I can think of. No double damage. =( Did I waste a perk?
 
It has worked for me when testing. I don't use it normally. Sneaking can be the tricky part.
 
it always worked for me... but then I play a Rogue... (Sneak, Steal, Lockpic... likes to use the Wakazashi)
 
Does it just upgrade to a critical that does double damage, or does it give you no confirmation and double the damage in addition to any critical. Does it still work with aimed shots? I also have never seen it work, but maybe I wasn't looking right.

Does silent death give a larger base damage from which to make a critical?

I have slayer and mega power fist. I want to know if Silent Death is adding to my damages? I critical every time with Slayer. It looks like its doing more damage when i scoot around back of a guy. I duno though. crits are so randomly generated.
 
From what i have seen it usually only works at the first turn of the fight. If u run around ur oponnent with stealth turned on and hits it from behind it will not double ur dmg. I have seen it working when a monster was hitting an NPC, even after the fight has commenced. It WILL work with aimed hits. I play an unnarmed "ninja", and can usually kill an enemy in the first turn of combat.
 
I hear you can hit the sneak button during combat and slam another hit from behind.

I think I might try this. Non slayer melee weapons guy. HIgh sneak, melee tagged.

I no longer tag Speech. If you don't use Gifted, speech goes up very quickly with a decent charisma, like start with 6 charisma and its into the 70's fast, 5 charisma even aint bad if no gifted.
