So what’s the status on Wasteland 3?

Not sure if we will get a lot of updates in 2018.
The Fig's page gives an estimated release date for Q4 2019, we will have to be patient for this one. I'm receiving emails from Fig quite often, I'll be sure to share if something about Wasteland 3 pops up.

Their focus is on Bard's Tale 4 at the moment. But once they release that during Q3 this year they will probably put all their effort into WL3.

If W3 does poorly they may be doomed.

They are doomed.

Fargo, the great trickster that even Tzeentch envies, has announced that he will leave inXile after W3 or a game after that (something along those lines, can't recall right) - probably to run a blockchain scam or something... Anyway, he is the name that is pulling inXile forward, for the better or worse (worse if you ask me). That team has talent, but lacks adequate approach and produces mediocre games that won't keep them afloat for all that long.

Of course, I could be wrong. Maybe W3 turns out to be amazing. Maybe Fargo quits and someone else takes over and gets inXile into shape. Or maybe a rogue planet collides with Earth and all that matters fuckall. Who knows?

One thing I am sure.
InXile consistently failed to deliver on their promises (or rather, Fargo's promises). Despite loyal customers, their approval with the crowds isn't high and if the trend of failing to deliver continues, they will plummet to their death.

4-5 years ago I wouldn't imagine myself writing this. Right now, I don't care. I'm just too disappointed.

I know how you feel.

I honestly hoped that when Inxile showed an interest in making old school RPGs again that it would bring back the best of the late 90s, even if not all of the titles because of their genre would appeal to me.

But it was my own nostalgia goggles that fooled me and I have taken them off since.

When Wasteland 3 is released and Fargo goes into retirement Inxile will probably release two or three more games before it is curtains down for them.

Can't even say that it will be the end of an era because Inxile wasn't Interplay 2.0
