Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and Sailors of the US Military

Carib FMJ

Nuka-Cola Chaser
I know I am not the only Soldier or active military person on NMA to be deployed... and that includes those who serve in foreign armies around the global. I know I won't be the last.

Well folks, my time has been called and now its time to stand and be counted. I have made many friends on this board and since the days of Vault 13net (all bow heads in silence)...

I will be deploying very soon *can't give date as you know how it is* But suffice to say I'll be heading off to iraq to do my tour. 15 months in Baghdad. So it may go well and it may turn into the wild west.

Just wish me luck, keep me in the prayers...

I know there are a lot of political views on if this is a good war or bad war. It doesn't matter. Or at least not to me.

Thanks for the great times on NMA and if I can get internet where I'll be at, I will keep in contact and pester the board with shots from iraq.

Take care, good luck
And keep Fallout burning!!!

PS: Any soldiers, Marines etc who are deployed or deploying, send me your contact info through PM. Us Military folk have to stick together after all :D

Im fuckin sad now.

Don't go, I played call o duty 4... it's bad... dey they have RPGS... and i luvs you... wasteland guy.

Try not to get shot, don't pick up interesting-looking objects on sides of roads, and get yourself a dragonskin vest.

AFAIK, Elly's still in the sandbox.

10 mountain is rangers, right?

Good luck, Carib. Maybe while you're there you'll find a picture of something interesting enough to make you get a new avatar....

What Woozie said.

Also, get some nice shots of military hardware and for (de)motivators.

And most importantly, have fun!*

*- As fun as military occupation of a hostile arabic country in extreme heat can be.

I will pray you don't die or get seriously wounded...chances are not since most areas of Iraq have little activity though those that do have it I hear are in constant strife.

Sincerely,
The Vault Dweller

I'm trying to think of an appropriate statement to make right now...

I think this picture will have to do.

No... Light Fighter Unit, but we do have some Ranger Heritage I suppose since the Ranger Tab is placed over the Battalions 10th Mountain Patch.

Its a hard knocks unit regardless, some of the stuff we do Rangers do, so all I need is a tab to tide over that formality.

Again, thanks guys, appreciate the sentiment and the support.

NMA got to do a lil census of active duty Military Personnel :D It would be good for representation.

Good advice!

Take care Carib and try to keep us posted. :salute:

Good luck Carib, may you pass all your PE and EN tests and may the food out there not lead you to diarrhoea. When in doubt, empty the magazine and come back in one piece.

Be well, Carib. Break a leg. Hopefully not your own.

We'll see you in a little while.

Soldiers have been prohibited from buying and using the Dragon Skin armor in the sandbox. In fact they’ve been told that if they use it, the Army will void their GI Life Insurance policies.

WASHINGTON (AP) - Soldiers will no longer be allowed to wear body armor other than the protective gear issued by the military, Army officials said Thursday, the latest twist in a running battle over the equipment the Pentagon gives its troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Army officials told The Associated Press that the order was prompted by concerns that soldiers or their families were buying inadequate or untested commercial armor from private companies - including the popular Dragon Skin gear made by California-based Pinnacle Armor.

"We're very concerned that people are spending their hard-earned money on something that doesn't provide the level of protection that the Army requires people to wear. So they're, frankly, wasting their money on substandard stuff," said Col. Thomas Spoehr, director of materiel for the Army.

On Topic:

I wish you a peaceful stay down there... hopefully you won't have to use your weapons at all.

keep your head down, Carib.

just make sure you come back, alright?

PS: check with some iraq vets on stuff you need to bring. sometimes the most silly stuff can be a godsent in such a hellhole (not to mention make you extremely popular with your mates ;) ).
