Shit talking?

I've lifted my post-Whalers NHL regular season boycott, playoffs are just too intense to miss.

As much as I grew up hating the Bruins and their fans, I love watching Chara play. He just manhandles people. That line of him and Seidenberg is pretty fierce. Not sure the Bs have the explosiveness to hang with Vancouver though.

Pretty compelling fanbases too. Not much ire for Canucks around here, but got a kick out of this masshole spoof:

Hockey is boring and stupid. Not as bad as soccer or golf, but it's pretty damn close.

Thanks for asking for my opinion.

Yes, I understand folks from the south have difficulty following the game and prefer the intellectual stimulation of watching stock cars driving 500 miles in a circle.

Notwithstanding, that was a great game last night. Biting, bloodletting, hip checks, 3 on 5s, breakaways, sick goaltending, lots of hitting. Great hockey. Ending was just devastating.

Thomas is too inconsistent to keep up that level of play all series. Seems like the Bruins went soft and were playing for overtime.

All the while Mass. getting hammered by a tornado??? WTF, spilled Hennessy on my remo con.

It's not really 'pretty damn close' though, is it? It's a lot, lot worse in just about every way.

Putting hockey, soccer and golf in the same sentence boggles the mind. Hockey and soccer are somewhat similar (though hockey moves faster and features more scoring), but golf?

Anyway, I followed the Tampa Bay Lightning's playoff run this season. Good fun. Brutal ending, though, and some really iffy refereeing throughout that Boston series.

I don't really care who out of Boston/Vancouver wins, so whatever.

I'm with Sander on this; Nobody I care about is in the game, so it's mostly just whatever.

Although I dunno how you can group hockey with Soccer or golf. Golf is its own special kinda boring, just like NASCAR races.

I don't know how people sit through baseball games though.

Fake edit: anybody want to give me a rundown on what happened? storm kept us from getting reception.

Goalkeeper's duel for 59+ minutes and Vancouver scored with :18 left. Both goalies stood on their heads. Boston looked more competent than I thought. Probably worth watching down the stretch if the series stays close.

Yes, we badly missed Chara in our national slovakian team during the 2011 IIHF WC.
WTF do they feed him there, live bear cubs? He's downright scary sometimes - enormous, notorious gym fiend, monster slap shot, he hits, fights, and has a downright malicious mean-streak sometimes.
Love it.

I'd say they're miles apart in terms in physicality and violence too.

It's kind of a crappy matchup in that they are so far apart (geographically speaking), and there's no real rivalry or animosity between the two. Not to say it wasn't intense last night.

My hometown team (Whalers) isn't even in my hometown anymore.

That a southern, expansion team like Atlanta has flopped and is moving back to one of the old northern cities in Winnipeg has given me some hope...

Lets go Canucks! Yeah that was a stressful game to watch, I'm glad it was a slow night at work, though that makes sense as everyone was either downtown at the game, watching it at a sports bar, or at home watching it.

Three wins away!

Canucks Accuse Bruins of Bullying Tactics, Blame B's for Causing After-Whistle Altercations

Burrows offered similar sentiments when asked about the league’s crackdown. “That’s hockey right there,” Burrows said. “That’s how we’ve been playing all season long, not getting involved after the whistle. I don’t know why last game we got involved a bit more. Maybe we got frustrated a bit because the score was up a bit, but at the same time we’re a team that plays whistle to whistle.
What fucking planet am I on?

Arg, now Boston just creamed the Canucks two games in a row, back to 2-2 but the Bruins have the momentums, 12 goals vs 1 in 2 games. I don't like the Canucks especially, but the Bruins are my most hated team just behind Toronto (at least Bruins have the skill to back them up).

I kept trying to find time to watch the series, but never caught a break. Wish I'd seen that last game.

Good job rioting, Vancouver fans. You're supposed to do that when you win, you silly goofballs! Everything is backwards in Canada.

I'm just glad Winnipeg got a team again. Who the hell watches hockey in Atlanta and Nashville anyway? Maybe Hartford will get the Whalers back someday, eh? The Coyotes? I mean, hockey in Arizona...what the hell?

LOL, the riot commentary was pretty funny given the political climate. Of course, most of the rioters are drunken morons or those who lost big in the betting. I am sure there are quite a few that took advantage of the situation to loot and go nuts.

The worst part about it is that Vancouver will probably go deeper into the realm of no-fun town due to this.

Seriously, the mood these days are so stuck up that some feel like they are wearing corsets.

That riot sure produced a lot of good videos any pictures. Namely that couple making out in the middle of the riot and the dude who had a flashbang go off after getting hit in his junk with it. Ow.

Great series, lots of hitting and animosity, bordering on garbage at times. Vancouver picked the wrong team to start a street fight with. At least they put that aside for game 7.

Sedins really disappeared, but that troika of Thomas/Chara/Seidenberg were pretty solid. Man, that cup looked small in Chara's hands.

Ever since the comedian got fined for insulting the lesbian hecklers, my esteem for Vancouver has taken a big hit, sorry to say.
