A sad day for Fallout fandom. After two years of covering Fallout and post-apocalyptic stuff, Supermutants.de, which we all remember well for its good coverage of The Fall back when TF was still interesting, has been closed forever.

Glowbewohner and the Supermutant staff, we salute you and will miss working alongside you.

The site says the community had died out and people were just using the site to download patches and read news. Only 20 active members left.
 
Glowbewhoner is a very nice guy, always enthusiastic about something, a shame the site died off. Hope everything goes well in their lives now, all the best to them.
 
Ah well. Hopefully his increased endeavours in Real Life™ shall pay off. Godspeed, Glowbewohner.
 
Hi, I am a member from Supermutants.de and I would like to clear here a few things. The Community is not responsible the Supermutants has died. Glowbewohner simply had no more desire and has instigated a quarrel. This he ended with it the whole staff has kicked and afterwards the side has closed. But we come back without Glowbewohner. I hope we remain in good contact.

glowbewohner is a lyer. he screwed up the facts WHY smt was closed by him, and only by him. he tried to bring back sum kinda gestapo (for real), tolerated no democracy in HIS admin-staff. it started, really started 2 days ago, when he blamed a user to flame him. indeed, glowbewohner flamed this user and not the other way around. but glowbewohner issued a caution to him. the admin-staff didnt support that and thats where the whole thing started... let me translate a quote from glowbewohner to one of the admin-staff: "and if i issue a caution to somebody without reason, only because it makes me horny and to spank the monkey, then i would do that."
he ignored everybody from the staff (and the staff existed of about 7 people, mods and admins) in HIS decisions. he always emphasized that during the last days. his site. his decisions. and he threated to bring the site down if somebody of the staff/team would be against him. and now this all happened...
if there are any questions or inconsistencies by your side, post them here. we from smt will try to rectify it.
i'm for sure, that the almighty glowbewohner himself will answer here, too.

Hi, I'm Projekt and I was about 2 years long admin of Supermutant, by the side of Glowbewohner.

There are some misunderstandings in his descriptions of the events that took place yesterday. I'll explain the whole story, but I make it quick. Glowbewohner got angry because of an old member of our community that wasn't his oppinion in the news comments. Actually he wasn't very nice. Glowbewohner wasn't nice, too. He got in some state of rage (+3 to insult -3 to intelligence, addictive) and began to flame - the member flamed (surprise!) back. Instead of trying to calm the situation down or just ignore it like every admin does he began to flame. That ended in Glowbewohner banning the member, calling the members of the small (but very stable) community spammers and the normal visitors of the site leechers. One of our former admins (Zitrusfrucht) remembered him of the rules that all descisions against users have to be discussed first with all of the members of the staff. He had a little icq chat with Glowbewohner - where he was forced to choose: do what I say or leave the staff.

So Glowbewohner called the whole staff to a meeting in our IRC channel. They discussed it - but this time it ended like the ICQ chat. Glowbewohner said everybody has to do what he says or can leave. He said "I am SUPERMUTANT and SUPERMUTANT is ME and when you have a problem with ME you have a problem with SUPERMUTANT." Nobody was his opinion whit that "Do what I say or go" politics, so he went, kicked them all and closed the site.

That's the story in short...

Actually, his points are some kind of weird. But I don't think i really have to understand the stuff that comes out of his head.


Now the whole staff wants to build a new site and we have the whole community in our back. It's just a question of time.

Hope you are able to read my school-english proper, sorry for misunderstandings if there are any.

As the first member who left the supermutants.de - Team at 00.15h monday, I want to comment this News too (even if Punk, Projekt and Humangrunt said already the most).

Glowbewohner has gotten sick in his brain (since the last year or longer?^^), he said to us (the team) that we would have to say yes to every of his decisions if he wants that, don't care if it is about a User or Content - and our opinion is uninteresting for him when he is not especially asking us for it. In fact, he was the opinion that SMT.de would be his own dictatiorship where he reigns as he want to - democratic decisions (which are or was important in the staff) didn't exist in his vocabulary. And when he said that he is thinking that way, we said he doesn't need a staff. So he kicked all the Moderators and Co-Admins from the staff because we did not respect his so called "authority" and his Arroganz and we weren't willing to be his a*s-Kissers. And because of the fact that there are not very much users active in the Forum and the other 4940 where 'just' downloading stuff and reading content, he called the community "leecher" and closed the site by himself.

Glow was the opinion that HE was supemutant.de, not the community which he had no contact to, because he nearly postet never anything in the Forum or when he did, often just to combat some users. Glowbewohner didn't build supermutant.de on his own, he had the help of many people to get SMT build together and to let survive it, many of them were in the Staff he kicked by his own Dictatorship-reasons - many people did more for Supermutant and/or the community then he did since a very, very long time (or he may never did in some points). And now he is treating them like shit.


PS: sorry for my harsh language at some points, but I was still very diplomatic when I remember what I am thinking about glowbewohner right now.

As the last one (from SMT) I want to say something too to this Topic as one of the (ex) staffmembers.
I went to the whole discussion when it nearly became a war.
I wanted to keep them all cool and seriously, but after all, Glow put himself in front of the community of SMT. Or just said: He gave a shit on it.

His words on the page are just pure cant to all who read it.
The author of this news knows the whole backround of it.
Kharn, if you want you can post the messages now wich I send to you.

After all I can say that we won´t give up (as staff and community) and will raise up aigain from the ashes wich Glow left to us all.

Funny, if the reasons were so different than what they said, and if said reasons were true, then you would have posted them. Instead, it infers that you have something to hide.

I might be harsh, I might even be crass to people and take a defensive stance on this forum because I have worked so hard to keep it from becoming like the Interplay forum. However, these actions look to be simply in poor taste and disrespect to everyone, which I have never done before; I am for the community. So far, these stories seem to be all the same and match up with what I got from part of the front page of Supermutants.de ("the community is dead", and essentially called them leechers), you have not bothered to explain yourself in reply to them, so I must take them as true.

So before you again tell anyone what to do on these forums, you have some explaining to do. Or if the community is dead as you claim, then goodbye already, as it sounds like the drama was thick enough already and you don't care about the community. So long and thanks for what you gave to the community, now we don't care about the drama, so goodbye to be replaced by people who are still interested in continuing to participate in the Fallout community.

On that note, if the other guys want to go ahead and make a site to continue their own hard work, they should please keep in touch.

i would like to know who is poor here. the members of supermutants who have to accept that the site is down from now on WITHOUT any reasons given just before you closed it, WITHOUT any warning that it will be down in the run up to that, WITHOUT informing "your" staff about it? or is it you, who initiated this fuckin betrayal on your whole community?! ask yourself, but dont be too confident of a conclusion by your narrow-minded and dumb brain. you acted highhanded, just admit that.

and we dont discharge our grind. its all about rectifying your lies given to the unknowing community and other fallout-crews like NMA. you let the people believe that the fallout-community is dying out. but it isnt. its alive. and you can see that by the by yours called "leechers" very well. every day a new user, most of them wanted stuff from the side. and why? cause they play FALLOUT! you offered that. and many others joined the community, most of them to get a hint for the game. thats normal. and now its the reason why you close the site and fuck up all fallout-players???
the reason to construct such a fansite is simultaneously the reason to close it? nobody believes that...its a pitty that you do...

i dont await that you reply on this.
for different reasons.
mainly that you cannot discuss this crap that you initiated with plausible arguments.

so if you do, please challenge your brain a bit more than to present more lies or contentless postings like yours up there.

fact is, he gave almost nothing to the community. projekt (he already posted here) made almost the whole content and MrTom (another admin from smt) managed the technical issues since i can remember.
glowbewohner didnt participated on the whole community for the last very long time.

we definitely will. and it wont take long. we are all in touch, especially the former admins of supermutants and the true man Projekt.

we wont give up fallout and its community like glowbewohner

Actually I don't think there is much left to say. Glowbewohner had in his post the opportunity to argue against us, all he left there was a small puddle of irony "poor... very poor". We already had discussions, I have over 150KB of logfiles - all that comes in play is the usual "you don't get my point" and "you have to do what i say, no matter what, if you don't like my descisions -> go". They are no brainless slaves, they are community members, good friends. And they THINK, the thing that Glowbewohner didn't like. He wanted workers that run the site and obey his orders.
The thing with the users... i think that was explained enough in my first post. Who gets upset because people come only to leech or collect infos doesn't understand how the internet works. Fallout communities shrink, sure - but the visitor counts were always fine.

Well, he closed Supermutant and we are going to build a new community with the old people. Where is the problem?

We will rise again - to enrich the glorious ranks of Fallout fanboyism. 8)
