The Book of Eli

Looks a LOT like Fallout 3. Maybe they wanted to make the movie, but Bethesda sold the rights to Uwe Boll instead.

It looks promising. Still, I couldn't bear the second half of the trailer when they have started showing off special effects with the typical "epic" music.

even Bethesda isn't that dumb...right?
Of course not.

They would give it to Michael Bay instead.

Fallout + transforers kind of action/shallow story = profit

Fallout 3 the movie ?

EDIT: forgot the link :>
Book of Eli

I haven't seen the movie yet but from the two trailers it reminded me so hard of Fallout 3, the whole setting, explosive action, follow-up camera views for missiles, weird raider masks...
Is it really that close to the style of FO3 ? Just wondering.

At least the raiders in the movie didn't seem to be as stupid as the ones in the game - AND the movie does feature Gary Oldman instead of an old man on the balcony. That's definitely a plus.[/url]

Book of Eli
Looks like a generic action movie, and notice how 90% of the comments are about Fallout 3. Maybe I'll try it when it's in the bargain bin.

Perhaps the kindest thing would have been to smother the game franchise with a pillow before Bethesda got their hands on it.

At least it would have died with as little pain as possible, instead of creating a new generation of dumb as fuck gamers who compare everything PA to it.

But I digress, sorry for that moderators.

As i mentioned in the aforementioned thread, I chalk the Book of Eli up there with A boy and his dog when it comes to post apocalyptic concepts on the silver screen. I was extremely pleased that I was not simply getting another Hollywood regurgitated film. It exceeded my expectations by quite a bit.

worth your dollars or Euro's sirs.

Umm... In one scene, a "A Boy And His Dog" poster is clearly visible. When Denzel is staying the night in a room for the town leader.

Anyways, it was very..bleh..

They didn't stick well with their source material

what I liked:

the setting was done very nicely, it was a lot like fallout 3 though and it felt believable.
gary oldman
denzil washington was/fitted better than i thought (not a fan of him)

what i did not like:

the main story. what the book was. they would have better been off if he was out to find a water chip and kill a mutant master afterwards.
at first he was scavenging everything, which i thought was nice, but later on he shot some arrows he did not pick up after using them.
so i found it akward when at first really nothing was expendable but later on just forgetting about the arrows.

the movie startet out very strong for me but got bad in the end (as the whole stoy was revealed)
but they created a very nice falloutish world worth looking at.
