The Game

Well, I pin all my hopes on the talks with Silver Style. If they can hire the BIS people, the franchise and Van Buren, I think I would order the resulting game in every language it was published, just to show them my support :D

see, the thing is, i don't think i'd want silver style to make fallout 3. its great that they're supportive of the idea of doing it, but i just don't think they could make it a decent enough game. It just wouldn't be the same. Fallout 3 needs to be done by the guys who have worked on previous fallout games. I don't really think that anyone from BIS would want to go out and live in Germany, where Silver Style is located. And without them, it just wouldn't be the same. Its their blood, sweat, and tears that made them the great games they are. They gave them a personality that i don't think anyone, silver style included, could reproduce.

And like people have been saying, although dudes from BIS have announced their firing (or is it layoffs? cause they're a difference), IPLY has still not officially announced anything. As I've said before, maybe the "higher-ups" will see the ENOURMOUS amount of backlash the ENITRE gaming community has caused, and go back on their decision to smite BIS.

They can't be so stupid as to ignore ALL the people who would be buying their games (console gamers included, cause i've seen my fair share of IPLY bashing from console sitesin the recent days).

or can they.......

After seeing the shots, I agree about Silverstyle. Their money to fund a new development house of the BIS guys to make FO3 would be good, but making thew game themselves... I don't see it working.
IPLAY won't rehire BIS. They're fuckwits. VB as we know it is dead.
I am pinning any hope I have on the BIS 'dream team' I mentioned earlier. I figure, since making a thousand compromises with IPLAY and still getting the game cancelled, I may as well aim for the very best blindly.

I think Mr. Teatime is onto something with his idea.
Devs and the like, you all have our attention and support.

Well, considering that the first two people on your dream team don't like each other very much, the idea is even more far fetched than it actually seems.

I had fallout 3 dreams last night from looking at the screenshots.

The game was looking GREAT, holy cow, and it would have only got better as they worked on it more.

And the detail about the shadows and the dust, the music, breaking windows, the sounds, people walking around doing things in the vault. How cool would the weapons have been? IN 3d, good 3d, taking people down.

AND the start screen, is your PC, and it changes every time to start to what your guy looks like in you saved slot, and they do there idel moves, messing with their guns and stuff.

These screens put the FO POS screens to uber shame. POS sucks ass.

I have no idea what the hell interplay was thinking, I just don't get it.

I'm so tired of pointing out what is wrong with this remark.

Who is Weenis, or is that classified information? I can't seem to find anyone whose name starts with a T in the published FO3 dev lists. Kthxbai.

I don't think anybody knows for sure, but there is certainly at least one former BIS employee whose first name starts with a "T" (thanks for the reminder, Briosafreak!).

Well, that's not very specific - Tim Cain and T-Ray Isaac fit that description too... :)

Hmm...I go out and play with the girls (and got drunk, I had one beer for each of the people laid off....+ a couple of more) and look what happens, you guys post the screenshots and all come out to speak..

Yup, this did indeed look great. I'd imagine that the final product would look even greater.

sigh...now I've gotta go and cry my soul out or drown my sorrows in some liquor/beer...

Too bad they're not the best screenshots, but at least you guys got to see something from our work. We had some really cool stuff scheduled to get done over the next few months too; broken tiles for the building sets (they integrated perfectly w/ the building tiles so you could make a destroyed building in just about any shape), the PC vehicles (yes plural), more creature models and concepts, animations, game functionality (including starting work on putting in the turn-based support), etc. Anyhow, just wanted to clarify some of the speculations on what this stuff is. :)

...

Starting to put in turn based support? Fallout in real time would not have been fallout. The game looks great but if the Turn based component was added as an after thought(and seeing how this was the BG3 engine, I have to assume it was) maybe it would have not done as well as some of us think. Fallout 3 has to be turn based there is no other way, combat like in fallout does not work in real time w/pause.

Ok well I'd rather have Tim, than Feargus, simply because Tim started the whole thing. Either one would be good, though. And since it's not going to happen, at least not for a few more years by which time I'm sure I'll have moved on, it's not really worth speculating. Interplay has fucked us over one too many times for there to be hope left for the relatively near future.

The engine was thought as Real-Time with Pause, but they added a Turn-Based component, that would be playable in the final version of BG3, according to Sammael. In Fallout3 the Turn Based combat gained priority, and was beeing worked up, while the RT with pause lost the priority. Almost everything was set up, they just needed time to implement it prefectly, when the demo was made the characters would just roam around and engage in very basic combat, just to show the animations and a few tricks of the AI ("Citizen, you are on my line of sight, please move"). The TB would rock, believe me.

By the way the method Tim Cain and the folks that did the original Fallout used to implement the combat was to put it in Real Time and then add layers of complexity until the Turn-Based mode we`ve played was ready.

it seems to me Brios knows much much more than he's letting on...

hhmmm....lets squeeze everything there is to know about Fallout 3 out of him!!! hahaha.... :D

I have another thought; let's not.

I have one: let's all form a sect, The Fallen, and commit mass-suicide in front of Interplay headquarters, at Christmas. That will give them a good reputation :).

Well.. faking it would be enough for it, anyway :).

I still like it better the other way around. ;)
