"The Glow" New game on Fallout2 engine!

It was begin when i think about perfect RPG. When i got many good ideas, inventions during research i just decider use it to create new game on Fallout2 engine. Surely this will be not some hack & slash game but strategy-adventure. Prior point in that game is many possibilities and realism.

You start near crashed vertibird, that mean you lost memory, got no prior quest. Here you start absolutley from zero and you can chose many ways which you go. It will be many organisations that you can join, made quest and master skills. Game will have many alternate endings, depend on fraction you decide to join. So its no begining story but many endings.

Typical game will end when you master skills required for one organisation and become here Elder. But remember you cant be master in everything. For example to become member of Sunrise Clerics you need skills Heavy Weapons, First Aid and Doctor =60% And game end when you master that skills to 280% (and gain Elder rank)

Also you can join to fraction called Black Steel, so in some way it will be continuation of Black Steel mod. Every city will have one, in result its like many many games in one. When play nex time you can select other fraction to get another possibilities like items, quests and special areas. Entire game will grown by add new fractions to it. You can also add here any your organisation with own story, quests NPCs and else.

So its "open game" everyone can join with own ideas, every will be tolerated! Because this will be world of many ways where everything is possible!

Every fraction will have similar building: underground shelter beneath ruined city. Sstandard city map (outside and underground) is already design and build. Now i will start fill it with NPC and quests.

You can join with any own ideas.
Fraction must have three required skills and some background story.

About progress:

I try design some adencement script for "Random NPC" which mean people will travel trough world. So everytime you enter town you meet here (by some amount of % chances) other peoples. They will got randomly created quest and some story to tell.

When you play "Endorian Quest" on gameboy item, that can be found in BSM1v69- you will got some clue how look random adventure. But this will be much better.

Most every NPC will be member of some fraction (or only "other heroes" that you meet during travell) So when you join one fraction they will got better "friendship level" for you. Very interact still changing world.

Instead of design single things like quest or NPC dialogue i will create only "chances and possibilities" which game select randomly. Mostly tipical game is to go still far away, because you seen something before. Here you can return to places where you been before and still found here something new!

Prior element will be probably "politics and economy" where you travell to gain some rank and money. But other ways may be important for you too:

-Politics & Economy
-Medicine & Police
-Science & Technology
-Religion & Entertainment
-Agriculture & Mining

Now i build starting area and world sketch, soon basic demo.
 
and what about black steel mod? canceled? on hold?

You seem to have alot of difrent ideas but you never really completed one. that's a darn shame. I guess that why the took your forum away as well.

My new ideas does not fit to typical F2 mod because they change game style, thats why i sterted new project. It will be connected to BSM some way. So i will take parts from mod to new game, but also i may put parts designed to Glow in BSM. Typical mod made too many limitations like game stereotypes that i must hold. On new playground i feel totally free, so am able for many inventions.

News:
I remember before workings where i mostly spend time on super-uper map making. Now i realise that only important thing in game are scripts. Thats why i want make simple game world in fev days and then only advancement scripts for NPC. They must be realistic, still changing and interactive.

I got world sketch and demo, probably every town will be clone of simple shelter under ruined city and most important only NPC Scripts. Probably guild room will be removed. Guilds building are dont need but every hero you meet will be member of some. That make it may be hundreads of different guilds about NPC talk. Guild is combination of skills from NPC hero give you quest (test of that skills) Every guilds will be connected to 5 Ways (that i mentioned before) Solve quest in that way will increase some GVAR, so you will master it (probably 5 different game endings)

I must clear that system:
5Ways=Guilds
Guild=2-3 skill combination
Town=ruins with shelter
Shelter=Tavern and shop
Tavern=Many heroes you can meet, every as member of some guild- he give you quest, they still travell world so you find every time someone new
 
Lich, really, you've got too many ideas, man.

Also, it's not a good idea to make a game on Fallout engine, it's 12 years old and yet no sourcecode available. Why don't you get in touch with the FIFE guys?

I like old games, programming and inventions. Glow will be much better than BSM i tell you.

Lately i made some breaktrough: "Floating Dialogue" look into screen. Also random NPC generator.

Banners are now in three places (also in start page) I dont put them everywhere because slowly opening.

About news:
-Upgrade "secondary skills" concept into proffesions. So there will be 9 character class from 18 skills. For example MEDIC = First Aid + Doctor, ENGINEER = Science + Repair, SOLDIER = Small guns + Big Guns, THIEF = Steal + Lockpick. Every NPC will got some proffesion and rank, also you can have it when join to guild.

-Every NPC will have "Attraction Level", so if you play male- every females will be to you attractive from 20-99% When you meet person who got over 95% attraction, you will fall in love. I dont known how exacly it will work, maybe some extra quest, possibilities. You can see that level when use description.

I think i got finall concept about "secondary skills" and "ways of developement". Game start without any plot/ prior quest but has 9 alternate endings depend on way you chose. So you can join to some guild, take here specific quests and master skills.

ASSASIN = Sneak + Throwing
GLADIATOR = Unarmed + Meele Weapons
SOLDIER = Small Guns + Big Guns
ENGINEER = Science + Repair
MEDIC = First Aid + Doctor
TRADER = Barter + Speech
EXPLORER = Traps + Outdoorsman
PSIONIC = Energy Weapons + Gambling
THIEF = Steal + Lockpick
