The Hidden Gems Thread

It's a thread to reccomend hidden gems or games people otherwise never talk about. Okay here we go.

First up is the most overlooked rockstar game: The Warriors

It's a fantastic beat em up that not only succefully adapts the movie charm intact but also serves as a prequel for the majority of the game. On top of that we also have optional standalone backstory missions. Everything about this game is satisfying.

Also 3D dot game heroes. Full disclosure, I haven't finished this game yet. Think I'm about a third of the way through. Still it's literally just NES Zelda but... It's a 7th gen game now. Check it out.

Also we have xenosaga. If you like jrpgs check it out. Problem is it's a 3 part saga and part 3 is decidely expensive so be aware.

Also metal arms.

It's edgy in a kiddy and has tons of charm. Obvious sequel bait ending which sucks because this is literally the only game this studio made before being bought by blizzard and being put to work on one of the most famous pieces of vaporware ever.

Course it could be all these games are all super well known like other "hidden" gems such as ico or the shadow of the collosus. It's hard to tell sometimes.

Recommend some hidden gems.

Lollipop Chainsaw is a hidden gem if I ever saw one. People are aware of it but they likely saw the 7's and skipped it.

It was actually kinda hard to find a pic that did not have tits and dicks in it though, so I am curious how hidden it really is. More like people are aware of her but never banged her. Buy the damn game if you like DMC combat. It is not perfect but it is unique.

If any of you like car combat games that aren't Twisted Metal or Vigilante 8 try out Rogue Trip. I'm one of the few people that played it apparently. It was made by former Twisted Metal devs around the time of Twisted Metal 3 I think.

Saying lollipop chainsaws combat is anywhere near like dmc is hilarious. Lollipop chainsaws combat is... Kind of bad. This was a game that got by purely on charm and sex appeal.

It's an okay game but the bizareness of the game is more entertaining than the game itself.

Your autism is showing. For the record - FUCK DMC. I used it as a descriptor so people would know the type of game it is. Dork.

I'm not-- you're a dork, you fricken butthead.

Guilty as charged. Another hidden gem that you will for sure agree with if you played it is Galerians for the PS1. Second Sight for the PS2 might work too.

(Look up Forgotten Gems: King's Field (US) to know about it, okay?)

Zone of the Enders

This game is amazing, despite its short length.
If you're looking for a game that's similar to Evangelion, or Xenogears (never played it, but maybe someday), then this is the game for you!
It has a great story, energetic gameplay, beautiful music, and a (somewhat) relatable protagonist! It's an overlooked underrated gem that Hideo Kojima created alongside the sequel to it. Such a shame that it was overlooked, because Konami included a demo for MGS2 alongside with the game. (cheap bastards)

That's all I can think about for now, hope that's enough!

I don't know if it was a hidden gem but no one else ever knows what I'm talking about when I bring it up. I remember liking it as a kid and might try to see if my old copy works and see if it's still as good as I remember it being.

Probably the first game I played that really relied on stats besides Pokemon until I got much, much older.

Been playing this recently and it's been great stuff so far. Not exactly very hidden since it was a commercial and critical success, but i think hidden enough for me to only hear about it until recently. From the same dev team that made F.E.A.R.

I played that game a lot on my PSX. Until it broke somehow and I had to replace it with some sucky pinball game because the store didn't have any other games of the same (cheap) value :?.
I hated when one of the other hunters would start near the objective item, get it and I couldn't reach them before they exited the map :lmao:.
