The Power Armors

TinyTeeth

First time out of the vault
Recently, I began thinking about this and my conclusion was that the Advanced Power Armor is plain ugly and boring, and that the original Power Armor looks much cooler. What's your opinion?

Personally, I dont like any type of power armor. I prefer the look and feel of combat armor. Im thinking about creating a quick little "mod" that takes the brotherhood combat armor and giving it power armor stats...

power armor looks better in FO1's enviroment but sucks with the enviroment in FO2 + it has better stats. PS blacks better than silver.

I agree with phil in how the combat armor made you feel good and it looked cool..and you're not in armor that causes eveyone to ask things like "How do you take a piss in that thing?" and that stuff

It's weird how every junkie and hooker in New Reno seems to have a death wish seeing as they make wisecracks about a guy standing in front of them in seven feet of steel. The bouncers have a much better comment. "You'll have to take that off, sir... ma'am... nevermind."

Drawings of Power Armour and that which you see in the video fit in nicely, but in the actual game something just dosnt feel right, but still i do like it. MK11 fits in some universe, but not that of Fallout.

I like the look of the combat leather jacket, personally.

I also like the robes. They both give off an aura of "I don't need armor to kill all of you, I'm a bad motherfucker."

I must admit, that I don?t like the Original PA. Just not my thing.

As for armors...well I mostly like the combat armors because they are quite possible. Realistically speaking they would be the ultimate armor you can find in real life (specially the brotherhood version). APA?s would kick ass, but those are for bullies. APA?s are for helping negotiations when your buddies stand behind you wearing it. No one feels lucky then

But sometimes I do enjoy playing with the APA and just cause mayhem. "I?m wearing a APA, I?m having a bad day and I?m going to level this whole village. What can you do to stop me? Nothing."

*takes out the old painless*

Ps. I do hope in FO3 you can literally blow everything to pieces with a minigun.

I must agree that the Combat Armor has much better looks and feel than the Power Armors. However, if I have to choose between them I'd say Hardened Power Armor. It's quite sad that the Combat Armor isn't that useful for very long, at least in Fallout 2. I usually get it in San Francisco or if I'm lucky in NCR, and then I'm almost ready to go to Navarro and it just feels plain wrong to have an Advanced Power Armor and not use it. The game becomes so easy when you have it. :P

Let me know about that Brotherhood Armor mod, Phil. :D

I like the look of the power armor better than the advanced one, of corse both make you look like a giant sardine can. the armor in tactics looks way better, more of a bad-ass look. plus I have one question: if the power armor is so sealed up and stuff how come the floaters can pump enough poison to kill a whole herd of brahmin into you?

The Batman of the Future PA certainly looks good in some of the renders on the bonus disc, but bad-ass? I would really of liked to see the T51-B done with FOT's graphics, the really annoying thing is that in the intro movie they had some neat drawings of the original power armour. Done in a very early Iron Man kind of style, I wish they had done the armour like that.

the T51-B is definatly coolst of the power armours, but I look so much better in a leather jacket or metal armour.

I loved the PA in tactics it looked real without placing like 30 pounds of pure steel on your shoulder. I think they should make PA weaker (I mean in fallout 2 you could make your char leave arroyo and head right to san francisco --> navarro for the armor and you'd be like unbeatable after that) and perhaps you could reinforce armor like they did in KOTOR. perhaps then you could make combat armor good with like some amazing energy and fire resistance or something.

The PA in Fallout Tactics looked like crap.

That's considered cheating, so no: they should NOT make PA weaker.

You can also get an upgrade for PA in Fallout and Fallout 2.

You can get the various dermal implants in Fallout 2 and aren't there like enough different kinds of armours in Fallout/Fallout 2 already?

Anyway, the original T51-B fits best of all in the setting. The PA one can find at Navarro/the Enclave looks way too futuristic IMO. The PA in Fallout Tactics - I'll repeat it - looks like crap.

That's not cheating, that's playing the game a different way.

If by different you mean ignominious and scurvy, then yes.

Although I can't say I procrastinate with getting the APA after Vault13 ;]

I think they should implement armor penalties for the huge and bulky PA in F3. It should be the best-protecting armor, but its size and weight should reflect on skills that require agility.

Other than that, the T51b was the best fit to the setting, IMO. The Advanced power armor was very cool indeed, but had a hint too much, as our Vault Doomsayer said, "futuristic" design for the retro-50's Fallout feel.

Nevertheless, a metal/composite armor made of broken PA elements would rock. Remember the tribal in the loading screen with the broken T51b helmet, covered in tatoo-like lines and swirls?

let me change my sentence...I liked the PA in fallout tactics compared to the gigantic apparently unhindering advanced power armor in FO2. Also it's not considered cheating to get the armor early it's getting bored of playing the normal path and using my creativity to go through all the cities backwards.

I didn't mean upgrade JUST the PA I mean all the armor, specifically the combat armor to make it as strong as PA or make it have some advantages PA didn't. which is what I meant by the energy, fire resistance, even though you could just get the implants in vault city, I can't be 100% sure that that will happen in fallout 3 can I?
