The Simpsons Movie [Possible Spoilers]

Duckman

Sonny, I Watched the Vault Bein' Built!
[MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS]

Anyway, I just got back from the cinema after watching The Simpsons Movie, and I have to say, it was just.............. Meh.

The advertisements for it were pretty much the funniest parts, and what "new" stuff we saw wasn't really that interesting.

I think my expectations were far too high for this movie though, I have been anticipating it since I heard about it last year. Oh well.

What are your thoughts on the movie?

I found the homer simpson ad hilarious.

You know, the one they painted next to a pagan fertility god thing that's been around for centuries.

Now, pagans claim the "homer simpson in undies holding a donut" pic is ruining their leet magickz, so they'll cast rain spells in order to wash the paint off.

Hi-la-rious.

Is the Simpsons movie anything like the Family Guy movie in the way that there wasn't anything really funny or cool but Seth MacFarlane going "see what we can do with an R-rating that we can't do on TV?"

I wish the Futurama movie made it to the big screen instead.

It was basically an extended episode, but better. I don't want to give too much away though.

Also, I don't want to take away from the true greatness of the Simpsons, but the movie was funny, just less than I expected....

Over here they made the most retarded decision in cinema history ever and dubbed it so there's no fucking way I'm paying money to see it in the theaters.

Only seen trailers, but from those it looks like an extended version of the new (shit) Simpsons episodes. The new writers are just too busy competing for how many bizarre references they can cram into an episode whilst obliterating everything that made the series funny.

Same thing here. It's quite funny that, by dubbing it, they actually consider it to be a cartoon for kids.
They should be running shows in English with subtitles, though.

*EDIT* Oh wait, I just found out we're from the same country. I feel incredibly stupid right now.

I maintain that Matt Groening is determined to pump out as much shit as possible as revenge for Fox cancelling Futurama in it's prime.

last night I went to the cinema with the missus, and the amount of 12yr olds there running up the walls about watching the Simpsons Movie made me ill.

We ended up watching Harry Potter instead, the only other people there were this weird 'cinema club' group of people all over 50, there was 30 of them.

Order of the Phoenix was pretty good, I'll probably watch the Simpsons Movie next week

I'm going to have to pass on The Simpsons movie. The series itself has been sucking for about 6 years now, I can't sit through a 2 hour episode of the "Newly written" Simpsons.

I saw it again, just in case I missed anything.

I didn't.

More money, almost gone to waste.

Why almost gone to waste?

I'm going tonight with friends from high school. Although I don't expect much, it might at least bring on the nostalgia.

Almost, because to me the movie isn't all that bad, but isn't all that great either. Seeing it a second time when I didn't quite want/need to, thus I almost wasted my money.

Sorry, my fatigue from the flu is really sending me crazy.

That could be true. Futurama was a great show, on it's way to becoming a true classic when it was cut off. I reckon Groening preferred it to The Simpsons, too.

I really don't want to see this movie, but Rescue Dawn isn't out in my area and Rush Hour 3 won't come out for another week or two. So I might bite, though I'm trying hard not to.

Good news everyone, the outrage caused by the dubbing was such that they are now playing both a subtitled and the dubbed version in theaters so I might still see it.

Just came back from seeing it. I really don't see how it could be disappointing. I thought it was great, a lot of fun. I laughed pretty much through the whole thing. It's not something incredibly amazing but it does its job. I wasn't really that intense about it before it came out so maybe that's why I wasn't disappointed, but overall I think it actually worked as a movie and didn't feel just like an (over)extended episode.

It needed a lot more Mr. Burns and Moe, in my opinion though.

I would definitely see it again and highly recommend it.
